  1. I replaced my standard bulbs for Nightbreaker + and they made a big difference. Theyre not quite in the HID league but do a far better job than the two candles that I originally had as light bulbs
  2. I tried the Silver Pigeon and 525 and got on better with the 525 which I bought and am very happy with.
  3. Mine doesn't like guns but is fine with me having them. She has her hobbies and I have mine - most hobbies we don't share but we don't interfere either
  4. Impressive footage. We had a cat that brought 2 stoats up from the fields. She didnt mess about with either of them - went straight for the throat. Watching that video I'm amazed that she lived to 20 years old
  5. Heres my list Breeding / keeping chickens (seems to be popular here) Brewing beer from malt and hops Keeping fish (3500 gal pond in the garden) Working agility / protection dogs (having to take a back seat right now) Buying / restoring pinball machines (another thats taking a back seat due to funds) Sorting out what was a wreck of a house
  6. Picked a load of our sloes this weekend and I'm about to make 2L of sloe vodka . Will be making some sloe jam this weekend We had a really good crop this year
  7. I gave my local office a call after about 5 weeks of hearing nothing and was told it would be a while before the cheque was cashed and the checks carried out. Two days later I received a receipt and a week later a phone call for the visit. I dont know if my phone call bumped me up the queue or if my form had worked its way to the top of the pile at the time that I called. Still waiting for the SGC though
  8. Vocals - Paul Jones (The Blues Band) Lead Guitar - Neil Young Bass - Flea Drums - Larry Mullen Keyboards - Booker T Triangle - Jedward
  9. Thanks for that. I ended up going for the ProQ as it does look to hold more than the Weber. Now its just a case of waiting for the delivery and giving it a go
  10. I'm looking at buying a smoker and have seen the Weber Smokey Mountain at a similar price as the ProQ Excel. I havent seen them side by side in the flesh but wondered if anyone had experience of both or could recommend one ?
  11. If youre feeding Arden Grange it is worth getting on their breeder program. I used to feed AG and bought it a lot cheaper through their program although I never bred. As it is working dog food, you get it vat free as well. The money you save can then be spent on shooting stuff
  12. Interesting topic and one that is in my mind when I take my dogs out. Shepherds are big, intimidating dogs to some people. I can see why they worry some people and respect that. I wont let mine off lead if I know that there are people shooting in the fields as one of mine is protection trained and does spark up if he hears a gun. A couple of videos to illustrate that you dont need a big dog to do damage. This is a mates small bitch (about 28kgs)who could do serious damage in the wrong hands. Bite work initilly with a gun attack at around 1 min 36 seconds The dog is trained to target the left arm Then sending the dog to bite and recalling from the bite at the last second(serious amount of control here. Anyone letting big dogs off lead should have a bullet proof recall. Lots of other videos on there for anyone interested
  13. Its just cooked bones that you cant feed as they become brittle. Raw chicken bones are softer although they can still be sharp so there is a risk. I've been feeding raw for about 4 years now without incident.
  14. It depends on the dog. Mine are not gun dogs, they are german shepherds but I can sort of relate it to gun dogs. My older dog and my bitch are quite chilled so they will eat 3 to 4 wings twice a day. My other dog never stops so he eats at least 6 wings twice a day and is still really lean. I'd start with 3 a day and if they get fat, drop it down. If they get too thin, add more. You will notice that thier waist is thinner with raw food as they dont have the bulk of dry food. I go with their ribs - If I can see the last two ribs, I am happy. If I can see the third rib I feed more. My active dog started looking thin last week so I'm feeding him 3 carcases, 8 wings or a pound and half of minced meat with veg until he puts a bit of weight on. Apologies that this is not a clear answer but it is pretty much play it by ear and be aware of how they are looking.

  16. Experion did have a free trial of their credit rating service where you can check your rating on line. Once you've used it you just need to phone some call centre to cancel the service.
  17. Agreed Theres no grain in there to bulk out the food and the dogs belly. The dogs teeth are clean from chewing through the bones (no need to line Pedigrees pockets buying dentarask). And its not expensive to feed. Ive just filled the freezer with 45kg of chicken wings and about 40kg of chicken carcases for £64. That will feed my three for at least 3 weeks
  18. Agree that good diet is essential. Mine have been a lot better since they moved away from decent dry food and onto a raw diet. A friend spent years and loads of money with the vets trying to cure a skin irritation with her dog. Moving to a raw diet they saw massive improvements within a week
  19. I feed tinned fish as already mentioned. I also buy dry salmon skin cubes from fish4dogs.com which keeps coats in great condition. Mine are fed eggs still in the shell a couple of times a week
  20. I like that thinking I dont hide (most) things from the wife. I'll suggest things to her and she will then tell me to go for it. Usually before Ive bought the item. The biggest exception to this was when I popped into the bike shop and mistakenly bought a new bike
  21. I cant comment on the other choices but my new shape (07) L200 has been faultless over the last year of ownership. Ride is car-like but you can tell that its a truck over bumpy stuff. The wheel base is long and you notice this initially around tight corners but soon get used to the length of the thing. Economy is good (for a big lump of iron work) at 28 - 30mpg around town and low 30's on the motorway. It will cruise at 85 all day. Turning circle is much improved from the 'classic' L200 and the new truck feels a lot more refined although many prefer the looks of the classic L200. Having driven both, I'd go for the new shape every time
  22. Agree with the accountant advice. They will advise you on the type of company to set up and wether to be vat registered. Speak to your local business link advisers. They helped us to a level and gave us a bit of direction. They will want to see a business plan and talk around the plan. Be prepared to put the hours in and take little money out in order to grow the business. We are just over two years in and starting to see the benefits. Invest in an accounting software package to track your finances. Register with your local forums. They will be a great place for leads for your type of work. And give it a go, rather than thinking about what could have been. We have a local general trade man do work at home and he is pulled out with work - there is plenty of business out there. Good luck with the venture
  23. There are good and bad dogs in any breed. The underclass of our society buy so called 'hard' dogs and, in their eyes, train the dog to bite by pushing the dog into defense. It's an easy (make that lazy) way to make a dog look the part and boost the chavs ego. The issue then is you have a dog with the ability to bite without the control and in a situation where the dog feels under pressure, its first instinct is to bite. It does sound like the issue here was at the other end of the lead.
