  1. Contrived ****. Looks like I'll be shouting at the telly again next Sunday though
  2. That could be the same one as it was at Bruntingthorpe. It would be around 2000 when I went down there.
  3. And if all of those fail Soda Crystals in hot water or Biological washing powder in boiling water Both left to soak for an hour
  4. We went to watch one that a friend has shares in 'stretch its legs' down the runway some years ago. It doesnt have a certificate for flying so didnt leave the ground. You could feel the power of the thing as it went by. A very impressive lump of engineering.
  5. I use Jeyes. Brush it on, leave it for a while and then give it a good wash down
  6. Just resurrecting this thread. Is Braithwell still open every Sunday ? Thinking about giving it a go this weekend if theyre open
  7. I can recommend Dogtra I have one but dont use it that often. Its a very good bit of kit
  8. Agree with this. A lad I knew from school, a happy family man, seemed very level when you spoke to him. The sort that you could see owning a gun and not take issue with. One day he was on the news. He stabbed his wife to death and hung himself. I'm sure that he had plenty of other options to 'do the deed' in his builders tools. I hate to think of what was going on in his head to lead him down such a dark path. As far as I know there was no outcry on the licensing of kitchen knives or rope as a result of this tragedy. It happens but gets more media attention when it involves guns.
  9. Using malt and reducing the volume will increase the unfermentable sugars and lead to a higher final gravity. 1010 is good. I'd get it in the bottles / keg
  10. I was given one as a kid as my first rifle and I remember it well. Pale stock with ugly lines, totally abused blueing which was more rust than blue, underlever made from what felt like a lump of 2" diameter iron. A really heavy gun to tow around as an eleven year old but I loved it ! I have no idea what happened to it. Its probably rusting away in my parents garage.
  11. Agree with tripe. Meaty lamb ribs are also good for putting weight on. The thing I find with feeding raw is that the dogs look leaner as their stomach isnt bulked out with grain as with some dry foods which is no bad thing.
  12. Its easily done I went into the local bike shop once and meant to ask if they could book mine in for am MOT. What came out was I'll take the new red one over there please. I think its a form of tourettes
  13. It was an interesting program. Good on the landscape gardener for going against the general view of the village and helping out, then enlist some of the village to muck in. He seems a well educated chap. It would be great to see a follow on to the program and see the house back in an habitable state.
  14. Ive decanted my slow vodka and thrown a bottle of supermarket sherry on the sloes. Shaking this one about now to get some of the fruit and vodka to impart its goodness onto the sherry to make a poor mans port (ok I may be pushing things a bit there !). I quick taste last night shows that the fruit is making its presence felt already
  15. This thread brought to mind a situation about 10 years ago when I read it earlier. Four 6ft + lads with their partners and kids on a flight back from somewhere long haul. We were two seats in front of them on the opposite side of the plane. Lads had too much ale and were being really abusive. Nobody intervened but it was a really tense situation. Landed at Maine airport and everybody was told to remain seated. Next thing you saw was a group of airport cops walking down the aisle and marched said lads off the plane - at this point the lads became a lot less abusive. Needless to say they didnt fly home on the plane and left screaming kids asking how daddy was going to get home . Slightly different to the train situation as its not as easy to land with a few grazes from that altitude. On this situation, the ticket collector colud've handled it better by following the procedure mentioned in the news articles and telling the big man not to intervene, the scrote couldve been far more complaint and less abusive(assuming that he had a ticket to produce). There are too many situations where abuse is ignored or simply tolerated. If it was nipped in the bud and acted on, rather than applying our PC laws, we wouldnt have anywhere near the levels of anti social behaviour that we now see. Good on him for doing what a lot of us say we would do.... after the event.
  16. I use Santander for my business banking mainly because it was free when we joined and they pay (a pitiful) interest on the balance. I will keep an eye on this and will consider moving if they apply charges. Our business is mainly e-banking which, as was said earlier, is clunky but does the job. I have no complaints with the service but equally they have done nothing to really impress me
  17. It must be legit as Oceanic Bank is also listed against the same address. One of their official letters Attn: Sir/Madam, This Is To Officially Inform You about our recent agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria to handle all their foriegn contract payments. Based on this development We Have Verified Your Contract/Inheritance File And Discovered Reasons Why You Are Yet To Receive Your Payment. It Is Because Of Irregularities And Complications Discovered On Your Payment File By Our Technical Experts In Respect To Your Contract /Inheritance Payment Requirements Which Have Just Been Duly Rectified. etc etc
  18. Got married and left home at 21. I was saving up for a lotus elan at the time but funds were diverted to the deposit on a house. This was towards the end of the miners strike and property in the area was cheap as there were so many repossessions. Started out fairly comfortable - second hand settee, black and white portable TV, second hand kitchen appliances left in the house by the previous owner. None of the DVD, flat screen TV, sky, freezer type stuff that a lot of people expect as an essential today. A year later we both had good promotions and so began the joy of moving house. 25 years on were still together but I do wonder what could have been if I bought the lotus.

    strike

A work colleague retired a few years ago from the private sector, only to come back into work as his pension wasnt doing as well as he planned due to the financial crisis. He didnt moan about it or go on strike, he got on with it as he realised that the economy has changed and he had to change with it. If changes are not made in the public sector and theres no money in the kitty to pay for the pensions, who should pay for the shortfall ? The next generation of public sector workers, the government, private sector ? The money has to come from somewhere and if the public sector have to swallow the bitter pills that the private sector have been taking for years, thats life. Pensions are paid out for longer as people live longer. Something has to give. I work in the private sector, not out of choice but more a case of this was the job that I could secure that pays reasonable money. I know that my pension wont be worth a deal when I retire so I'm making alternate plans to make up the shortfall
  20. If she keeps a certain chicken breed, buy membership to that club I bought mine a cluckoo clock which she liked Or make her a posh nest box for the chickens That said, the rabbit does sound like a better idea
  21. Nice interior, it matches the faded red soooo well. Is the dash made of real plastic ?
  22. You could be right about them not being in right. But as you say, for a tenner it was worth a go
