  1. I tried them and they didnt cut the noise down noticeably for me. I'll be ordering some moulded plugs next year
  2. My L200 is averaging 32mpg with a mix of town and motorway driving. With the mileage that I do it wont break the bank
  3. I once watched a hedgehog fighting a badger. Went on for ages, blood and guts everywhere. The hedgehog eventually won on points. I'll get my coat Morales Barrera fights took some beating One of the most memorable was Collins Eubank when the indestructible Eubank lost his crown
  4. I really enjoy goose with pickled pears to cut across the greasy meat. This year will be beef for me with some home grown veg Ive done the cola cooked ham and dont think you can beat it. The last ham I slow cooked in water with pepper corns, bay leaf and onion. That worked well.
  5. sounds like the cable to that ring may be damaged (I'm assuming that the return is through the earth of the cooker)
  6. Had my 07 plate for over a year now with no issues. Its like any vehicle, there are horror stories and plenty who have no problems. Cant wait for the white stuff to turn up this year
  7. Have a look on kelkoo.co.uk. They have links to good deals on electrical gear.
  8. I fitted tube heaters from screwfix but Ive not used them.
  9. Global for me. Ive had my set for about 10 years. They are well constructed, have a good balance and keep a good sharp edge
  10. Thats not a bad price. I paid £134 each for the last duellers I fitted to my L200. I have a full set of almost new duellers on my summer wheels so no good for me
  11. Its a while ago but that was my thought too. It made no sense they wouldn't entertain a dog living outside despite the big fur coat. We had more recent dealings with RSPCA, wanting advice on a welfare issue around geese where they were totally dismissive. I'm sure that they do some great work but my experience of them has been negative.
  12. A topic like this will always polarise opinion. I remember approaching the RSPCA when looking for our first dog and being refused as we kennel our dogs. To me, this is the best place for dogs but RSPCAs opinion differed. That didnt taint my view of rescue dogs. As I originally said, my current view is probably selfish, bourne out of the issues I have since seen with rescue dogs. Those who take on an unknown quantity have my admiration. Its just not for me.
  13. Agree that if the dog is free then there is no real initial outlay although ongoing costs far outweigh the purchase price. There are other options than pup or rescue dog and there are dogs out there that have the basics already, from working lines that are a year or so old. Granted, not as many as there are pups or rescues and you may pay a bit more but youre buying more of a known quantity. Having the genetics and the basics there is a big help.
  14. The danger with a trial period with a dog is that you bond with the dog, accept issues, thinking that you can overcome them and end up with a dog that wont do the job that you got it for which amounts to a waste of dog food for the next ten years. Cost is a big consideration as said above. The purchase price of a dog is such a small percentage of the 'running costs' when you factor in food, injections, vet visits, insurance (if you go that route).
  15. From a selfish point of view I steer clear of dogs where I dont know their history. I know plenty who have great rescue dogs but also plenty who have real problems sorting out the previous owners mistakes.
  16. Ive found that two dogs will fight and back off once they sort out the pack order but two bitches can get nasty. They should settle down but its worth keeping an eye on how they behave and separating them when they are on their own for a while.
  17. 50% posh Must dash, need to exercise the swans
  18. I use the optical foil that you suggest and it works well for me. Without it I see two ribs at times, see down the left side of the gun. With the foil I get a far better picture. It took a bit of getting used to but was worth it.
  19. Its one that I was made aware of but I havent been down there. I'd be interested in any feedback as its fairly close to me
  20. I have most of his stuff. Saw him at Finsbury Park, Reading and Glasgow SEC Great performer
  21. Ive had second interviews where it has been an informal chat to see how you'd fit in. If it is informal, it is still an interview. Ive also had them where they fire more situational type questions at you - answer these with real examples rather than a generic answer. I had one second interview with three senior managers firing questions at me, I assume to see how I coped under pressure. Its a good chance to ask those questions that you didnt ask in the first interview about the company and questions about the role although they should have covered this. Good luck !
  22. We moved away from BT recently as we could get a deal that suited us better (free calls to O2 mobiles mainly). When we cancelled they advised that we needed to pay the remainder of the years contract. Apparently their contract is for a year and at the anniversary this contract stands for another year. We challenged this and they agreed to waive the cost. We had another instance around the same time when an engineer came to repair damage to the line that a builder had caused. Despite assurances from Dave in India that the repair would be free, we received the good old £130 bill. I dont have an issue with the bill. The issue was that the builder had left at this point and been paid so I then had to follow up with the builder after telling him that there would be no charge. Sharp practice, poor customer service. If they were a start up company today offering this level of service they would fail.
  23. School holidays wont help speed this week. I'd imagine that theres a fair bit of extra bandwidth being taken up by kids who would normally be smoking behind the bike sheds
  24. I agree. The one of mine that puts up the biggest display of aggression wouldnt have a clue what to do if anyone came into the garden. I dont tell the that scrotes though. I've often been asked if my dogs will bite and they get the same stock answer 'they wont bite me'.
