  1. hi guys i was able to nail a rat that had been feeding from fall out from my bird table i got him from 15 yds with my ,25 bsa i left the back door wall light on put out the tin of cheap catfood with holes punched in it, some water put in shake it all up left it out there for a couple of nights let mr rat feel safe then last night sat myself on my shed doorstep a nice cushion to keep the old bones comfortable after 20 mins plus i notice movement from the nearby hedge, out comes mr rat boldly towards the tin i let the condemed rat have a couple of licks then let him have a h&n ftt .25 pellet right in the chest the rat under impact jumped about 2ft in the air the pellet made a real mess of the rat i got a shovel and a piece of wood scraped it up and over the hedge at the top of my garden for my night visiting fox which i feed my rats , mixie bunnies, shotgunned pigeons , next day all gone , i might add gents the top of my garden backs onto a 150 acre field so no problems the farmers just asked me to shoot all his pigeons so a good result there, atvb brian
  2. yes thats fine amateur on a fine sunny day, try using the same gun on a cold winters morning and see how the power has dropped!!!i ,ll stick to pcp,s and springers , but its horses for courses as long as you enjoy it thats the main thing. regds brian

  4. I agree with airarns david the hw95k is a great gun ,i am lucky to own 2 of them one in each calibre for a springer they are easy to handle, accurate, reliable, and not too heavy, as a 1st gun a hw95k is a good choice. good luck with your choice. regds brian
  5. hi, rob i would go for the hw99 or even better the hw95k . i own hw95k,s in both calibres these are both cracking guns reliable, accurate. good handling, fitted with the rekord trigger , much better than cometa, gamo in my view, or if you prefer an underlever either the hw97 or the air arms tx200. regds brian
  6. hi, lowlander the s200.22 with the optional 10 shot mag a nice short gun and light, and a nv scope the best gen-1 the d-141 paladin, i use one of these its brilliant. atvb--brian
  7. hi, jase a good airgun to start with would be weirauch hw-95 .177 you can pick them up 2nd hand on here or from some of the other forums often for under 200 quid, then a scope i may be able to help you there with a good one at a good price , just let me know if you are interested. regards brian
  8. Hi Beaker, i use fac airguns because my main shoot is open and flat with little cover so i can use the extra distance , the feo will not clear the land for rimfire or centre fire fac because of the land lay out with my fac mk-1 rapid.22 @40 fpe i can safely reach prey and kill it humanely, i also use a .177fac at 20fpe which flys flat for 60+ yds and hits hard, regds brian
  9. i use a webly litew8.22 with a D141 paladin Gen-1 Nv scope with a 150mw ir illuminator and jsb exact pellets rats & rabbits hate it. regds brian
  10. Hi, Guys i was out at 1st light this morning at my local big house shoot, this has paddocks of 3 acres either side of the house and lots of trees and copses . My main prey are rabbits, tree rats, and woodies, magpies,my guns used this morning a Daystate mk-3 R/t .177 fac @20fpe and for the woodies my .410 shotgun, i arrived at 0700 hrs and parked up and spotted 2 woodies having a set to at the top of a horse chestnut tree so i quickly loaded the daystates mag and got into a shooting position from the undergrowth where i was i took a bead on the woodie with its back to me and shot it in the back of the head it fell forward but the other woodie was still trying to attack it . So i shot it straight through the front of the neck , then both birds fell out of the tree hitting the ground with a loud thwack, next i set up a hide about 30 yds from a large wood pile that contains a rabbit warren and got comfortable on my camping chair after about 20-30 mins, 2-- baby rabbits appeared but were too small so i let them play chasing each other around, then from the field behind the woodpile came a large rabbit hopping slowly then stopping and having a look around, this rabbit was about 40 yds from me which just happens to be my zero point for the r/t i eased a jsb exact .177 pellet into the barrel and got a nice side on shot right into the bunnies head it did a nice back flip and laid still, over the next one and a half hours i shot 4 more rabbits. I then decided to walk around with my .410 semi auto shotgun and sort out some roosting woodies in some trees still in leaf in the top paddock, this also contains two large hazel nut bushes so tree rats are often around as i made my way under the overhanging laurel bushes, i heard the cackle of mr magpie and spotted him at the top of a hazel tree its back to me so being the bad sport i am i shot it out of the tree , further on 2 tree rats their bushy tails just showing through the hazel nut leaves were busy knocking off the hazel nuts did not notice me about 20 yds away so i took aim and shot them both dead , i then took one of the tree rats and cut its stomach open and placed it near to where i had seen several magpies before, i took cover in a near by laurel bush copse and waited after about 40 mins 2 magpies flew over then sat in a near by tree but came down to the tree rat after a while only 1 landed but i shot it dead the other one flew away , i managed 4 more woodies before calling it a day,.A good mornings shoot completed!!!! regds brian

  15. Hi Amateur, pls don,t live up to your forum aka ,YOU DO NOT USE AIR PISTOLS FOR KILLING PIGEONS& TREE RATS, you should only use air rifles and get a good shot so you can hit a 20/25mm target at 25/30 yds before you think of shooting live animals, at the range your shooting at any bsa/webly/ gamo./ norica/ cometa springers will do the job .177 and head shots. so pls do not shoot animals with a pistol use a legal powered airgun, rehds brian
