This is a good resin for use on stick making, from Hobbycraft stores

I find that linseed oil takes a while to dry, I use Danish Oil on the sticks and priests I make.

We have a problem on our duck pond where we can not use plastic wads. Gamebore Silver steel have a fibre wad but they are 3" so ok for us but do not understand why a cartridge company do not get this problem sorted

Thanks for the info, the feeders are Kenco from USA, and run morning and evening for about 20 seconds. The Energiser battery's run fro August to end of season. We can get the 7ah battery in the back so we will try some. Bruno22rf kindly gave me a battery and solar panel to convert the first one. Should save save money even buying spares

I wondered if there is anyone who could give me a little advice on a problem we have with some electric feeders. These have a small 12 volt electric motor and they run for about 20 seconds twice a day and cast barley into the water at a duck pond. These feeders have two 6 volt PJ996 lantern type batteries wired in series to give the required voltage. We have tried several different makes and Energizer 529 Alkaline seem to be the best, however these have doubled in price in the last two years to approx £15 each. When we look at the data sheets for these lantern batteries, the Energizer quotes 26Ah, Duracell quote 13Ah and Varta zinc chloride quote anything from 4 to 7.5Ah. however these date sheets all appear to differ in the tests that have been carried out to get these figures. I was wondering if we could use a sealed lead acid battery as we can fit a 12v 7ah into the feeder quite easily converting it from the series wiring, logic says that these lead acid batteries would be at least as powerful as the lantern batteries but none of the data sheets compare like for like. I wonder if anyone could offer some advice on this idea, do you think this sound logical or should we fit even bigger amp hour batteries if we can some how fit them.

Our duck shoot is in the same position, my old Beretta is not steel proofed so was using Bismuth. This was costing over £30 a box so treated myself to a Franchi Affinity and now use Gamebore silver steel at about £10 a box. By the time the warranty has run out should have nearly paided for itself

Southams auctions at Bedford had a load of pinfire cases in their March sale, not sure but i think some were not sold. Have a look at June sale on the Southam web site when they put it up as you cant be far away. They often have that sort of thing for sale, I am in Mk16 and we go for a look at most of them if you cant

Holts have a 20bore x 6.5x57r over and under in their sale tommorow (22nd Mar) but it is estimated at £3000 to £5000. Southams auctions have had several "Drillings" for sale over the last few sales.

I don't think members expect events in their own towns, but members like me on the edge of several regions should expect some within a reasonable distance. The south east region events all appear south of London so most events would be two to three hours drive. If you do not put on events in the outer reaches of area how do you know how popular they will be. You say it is reviewed every year but it is a chicken and egg situation, on events equal no interest. We had a syndicate membership on our shoot but the members decided to stop it and everybody joined other institutions because they felt that they where not getting any support from the regions

I worked for 16 years as an IT manager and I would not wont to teach for any money. These days they have to have written plans before each lesson. Set certain home works, produce computer images to display on there white board and be assessed at every stage. They get abuse from students and parents alike and have nothing they can do for it They need more support and authority no wonder no one wants the job

Exactly the same as above, love beating and watching others shoot, but just no longer want to stand and shoot pheasants. Can shoot most weeks a 50 round for £8 as you say it seems an age thing. Many of the beaters even prefer to work their dogs on beaters day rather than bring a gun

Just as alway there is nothing within a sensible traveling distance from us. Live in North Bucks but you think we where on some distant island with Basc. We are at the very remotest edge of three Basc regions so therefore we never get anything near us,most of our regions events are south coast at over 120 away

I have a Affinity and there is certainly more recoil than a gas operated auto. But it is still less than a o/u or sbs and I would recommend you try both if possible. The Franchi feels better made than most cheaper auto so that was my choice

I had a 2000 reg grand vitara for over ten years with few problems, and now have a 2010 reg. Mine is 2.4 petrol so high tax but would recomend for general use

Yes it is a CB350sg mostly had British bikes but knee problem means need electric start and the value for money much better.

H All Some more ideas for sticks, from right hazel with walnut carved top, blackthorn with ebony thumb, ash with triple antler, hazel crook from solid and then hawthorn knob stick.

These are a few examples, the holly is the stipped one the others are hazel or blackthorn. I also use ash and even did a apple tree one.
