ANY Police Officer of any rank can apply to continue after their '30 years'. It is usually only the hierarchy that do so. Most are thankful to see their retirement date, without being FORCED to retire through injury, physical or otherwise.

It's a lot cheaper than anything with 'gun' on it, but wood Polish is wood polish. I find it excellent for my gun stocks, none slip and protects the wood finish.

When I am happy with the oil finish and satisfied it has completely dried, I spray it with furniture Polish. The one I use, and have used for some time, on all my oil finishes is Wood Silk. It is around £2 can and works well. It is non-slip and stops the oil finish from turning white in the rain. A word of warning though, spray it sparingly OUTDOORS. I did a stock in our kitchen, the overspray went onto the tiled floor. My wife and I were like Torvill and Dean for a week !

I shoot with 2 guys that DID wear varifocals. Now they both have shooting glasses with prescription lens inserts. Their scores have improved dramatically.

I use my own home made alkanet root oil, but any of the traditional oil brands make an alkanet root oil. This is a work in progress.

OVERKILL, Police called to Man Carrying an Air Rifle.

Proving that would be impossible. She believes that standing near to public footpaths is an offence, regardless of her lack of knowledge of the Law. She even tried "My Husband is a Police Officer " routine, until I asked to see his warrant card. Transpired he was a Civilian office clerk in the warrant office. Most of the local Bobbies know her, drive up, speak to the shoot Captain and leave. It is the inconvenience to both the shoot and the Police, which she knows and exploits. -

We had an RSPCA Inspector living in a house on our shoot, it was a fortnightly occurrence to have the Police attend. She would come out ranting and raving, her language was choice ! We would just totally ignore her, which seemed to make her even worse. Although I have left the shoot, apparently she continues to this day. 🙄 -

MOST shots have to be taken 'on assumption ' OR are you one of the "wait until you are shot at, to return fire" brigade ? WHEN you have put yourself in that position, maybe, just maybe, I will be inclined to listen. -

Have you EVER been in that sort of situation ? You are provided with as much information, as is possible at the time. IF, that person is known to carry weapons and does not comply with the instructions given to him, then that Officer has to make the decision to shoot or not. YOU are completely unaware of how that situation developed, as am I. The fact that it was a chair leg would only have been realised AFTER the shot was taken. Perhaps if he had been carrying a 3 seater Chesterfield under his arm, or in a carrier bag, the outcome would have been different. They could have sat and talked about it. -

NOT just an imminent threat to the Officers own life, but more importantly, a THREAT to others. -
Why do Essex Fire Service need a Survey to tell them what to prioritise?

Can I ask how many contributors to this topic have ever been involved in front line Policing, armed or otherwise ?? -

So are you saying that if someone is reported as having a weapon, the village Bobby turns up on his push bike as a first response ?? -

Yes, I keep trying to go and visit the shop. I was going into the original W. Richards in the 1960's and knew the shop manager/gunsmith quite well. Funnily enough, I was game shooting yesterday and somebody commented on my 50 size pigskin cartridge bag. It is ideal for smaller days. I bought that second hand from Richards of Liverpool in 1970's. I paid around £25 for it. -

With 14 a DAY being assaulted and at least 2 a week being hospitalised, there will not be many left on the streets soon. In fact with so few Officers left to assault, they have started on Ambulance crews now too. -

Is there one ? York guns moved out of the City, but the last I heard, they were closing. Maybe he was a 'prohibited ' person ? -
I have had these for over 20 years so can not remember their cost, but they would not be difficult to make your own with velcro tape and elastic.
-
As above.......I wear these for all my fishing and shooting. My socks stay up.
-
And probably the PPE not quite being up to today's standards ??
-
In that case, maybe I am the exception ! I am totally deaf in my right ear and it is my left ear that does all of the work. I shot a 26" barrel S x S for many years. I was a Police Firearms Officer, and I have been a Shooting Instructor for over 30 years. It was a minor stroke that claimed my hearing. I never noticed any difference between my 26" barrels and my 28" barrel S x S guns, in their handling or their performance.

I don't think the gun room was connected to the ground, bit like the Gunsmith, separate entities. When Matt Morgan was the manager at Premier Guns, I could not speak highly enough of them. However, since he has gone, I have heard that things are not so good.

I have found an excellent way to get to see a Doctor, immediate appointment, no queues, face to face, no problem ! BOOK A CRUISE ! 😂

Is it a wading jacket, or a 3/4 length ?

Ah, I see what you have done there.......just leaves ONE black ring on yer shoe....clever. 😉 It looks a lovely gun, good luck with the sale.
