  1. A Friend living in Thames Valley has waited over 12 months for his Certificate grant to materialise. Phone calls just got "It takes as long as it takes" responses.
  2. It looks like it could be a well worn AyA 'Cosmos' single barrel 12 bore.
  3. Both my Grandfather and Father died at 87...........I'm going to live it up for the next 8 years ! 😂
  4. THAT, is exactly what I did. My 'lump sum' was invested in 2001, after I retired. I started straight away with my 'works' pension. That was topped up from the interest on the investment. I did that for 9 years, until I got my state pension and my Wife got her state pension. After 20 years, I am mortgage free, totally debt free and my 'lump' has increased to around 10% more than our original investment. We have drawn off sufficient to buy a newish car every 5 years or so, plus annual holidays. If, like me, you are useless at choosing the right thing with money, get a GOOD financial advisor. It has certainly worked for me.
  5. Bloomin eck......no wonder you didn't notice the 'hill' at Paintmine ! 😂 I have been retired 24 years this year !
  6. I get sick of being told how wonderful my pension is, the fact that I paid into it every 4 weeks for almost 30 years is irrelevant ! 🙄
  7. I got my FULL pension at 55, and topped up my income from investments until I was 65, then I received my State pension. I also did some driving for the Locum Service for a few years, but a couple of minor strokes stopped that !
  8. I did the same, but joined at 28 and retired at 56. Mind you, I have a totally knackered right shoulder (dislocated twice), a knackered right knee after tearing the ligaments and too many minor scars to mention. But, I'm still able to go shooting each week, and to me, that is what matters the most. I have a small collection of momenta from some shooting pals who are no longer with us.
  9. Pity your enquiring mind didn't stretch to photography, quick photo on phone BEFORE removing the baffles, may have helped ? 🤔
  10. TWO Briley's and a black marker pen !
  11. I read somewhere yesterday, that some 'expert' or other has declared that letting children play rugby is akin to 'Child Abuse' ! 🙄 Now making them watch it, is something else again ! 😂
  12. Can you tell me what the lining is in the Napier gun slip please ? Thanks.
  13. If its any help, I use a cheap plastic Beretta key that fits perfectly. I keep the original key in the gun case, but carry the Beretta key in my range bag. I paid about £8 posted fof the Beretta key.
  14. Because they are unable to update their website as fast as the increasing cartridge prices I suppose ! Buy the cheapest you can in a 70mm case length. Stick to 28 gram maximum for clays, some grounds insist upon 28 gram maximum. I shot 1000's of pigeons for 30 plus years, using mainly 28 gram 6's in a 20 bore Remington, with fixed 1/2 choke.
  15. May I suggest for your first attempt at DTL, ask the ground if they could lock the Trap in the straight ahead position. You then start on the centre peg, moving left and right of centre, as you improve. It is just something I used to do for beginners, when I ran a shooting ground. It is only a case of flicking off a switch. It really does help with your 'start' position, with your gun hold. It IS a concentration game though.
  16. I believe the Bishop has been around a bit too ! 😃
  17. That is the same thickness of the pad on my Trap stock, the Sporting being half of that. I have never ground the Trap pad down to fit, just in case I come to sell it. The thinner one is ground to fit and blacked with the permanent marker pen.
  18. In my part of the world it would be "my wife has been Robbin" ! 🤣
  19. And I thought it was just Damascus barrels they 'Browned' ! 🤔
  20. Having tried several other pads on my latest 12 bore acquisition, and knowing how good the Isis pads are, I bit the bullet and bought one. As I did not want to cut the woodwork on the gun, I was restricted to using the 15mm pad. I had tried various other pads by Browning, Beretta and Kick-eeze, but I was still feeling recoil. I fitted the 15mm Isis pad and an Isis comb raiser. The results are incredible, no gun 'bounce' between shots, even with the most severe recoiling cartridges, the gun is a pleasure to shoot. I do have a thicker Isis padon another stock and that gun is a joy to shoot too.
