  1. Very nice, all underlevers I see. I've got 3 hammer guns, 2 are damascus, 1 steel and sleeved. 1 is a side lever so no problem with opening if the right hammer is cocked

It's about their minimum wage http://www.wageindicator.org/main/salary/minimum-wage/bangladesh
  3. My guess is that they will have been acting in the name of Fred Allah
  4. Any interest in these at all now the season has started? K
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Jena-Binoculars-Deltrintem-8x30-/172262008408?hash=item281b9da658:g:aF8AAOSwwo1XePhc I think 'DDR' logo and 7 digit serial number are the authentic East German quality Zeiss 8 x 30 K
  6. I've just put a deposit down on an 1870s (about) hammer gun; damascus, rebounding hammers, side-lever, 30" It felt special to hold and use He wasn't interested in my Arietta Crown Sabel as p/ex as he said people want engraved, not plain actions nowadays K
  7. Lots on Ebay for around £30 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=tweed+waiscoat&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xtweed+waistcoat.TRS0&_nkw=tweed+waistcoat&_sacat=0 K
  8. I see 1 of these around now and again http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/259957/superformance_shelby_daytona_cobra_coupe_mkii_review.html Great sound A man involved in a pheasant shoot near Dulverton used to race Cobras in the 60s (good-looking, rich, a racing driver..... what a life) K
  9. You'll enjoy it Al I hope. Some chapters have a recipe at the end so you can cook what you've shot K
  10. I like the old Indian hunting stories by people like Corbett and Kenneth Anderson. A good primer is Great India Hunting Stories edited by Stephen Alter I've just finished The Lonely Tiger by Hugh Allen which I enjoyed (a writer in the stories book) Steve (an American born in the Himalayas) recommended a mid C20th US hunting book which I'll look out K US book is A Hunter's Road by Jim Ferguson (then I looked at the bibliography and suggested reading at the back and found other good writers)
  11. PM with the Vintage Gun bloke
  12. I like old English sxs a lot. Prices affected by; the proposed lead ban, 2 1/2 chambers and stricter proof house rules (someone in the trade told me) http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/22751/lot/106/ Under £50 with a case I'm currently about to p/ex (hopefully) my Arietta Crown Sabel for another wonderful hammer gun from the 1870s K
  13. I used to fish the Mease at Netherseal, freelining slugs for chub, the BAA stretch
  14. Check out the reel seats on the Exages before you buy 1 I've bought many travel style (multi-section) rods over the years and found the Exage reel seat wouldn't take a medium to big fixed spool reel foot only a multiplier The Penn 6500-9500s I used wouldn't go on though maybe more modern reels have slimmer feet K
  15. Yes, it does seem to be for those in the trade. I couldn't see any views though have English SxS K

  18. Agree and get the GDR versions (apparently rated better)
  19. Agree here, only with a lot of effort - climbing a high fence, bending bars - should it be possible to access an animal enclosure
  20. The season starts very soon; no takers for these? Kevin
  21. Hi Geo I think Bonhams & Gavin Gardiner are not until December though Holts is June 30. I saw a sleeved Bland go for £50 with case! You have to check the measurements out -you get a sheet with bores and wall thicknesses on Kevin
  22. Daf I was pleased as I hooked a trout on a dry on the Dikler today; there were lots of mayflies on the water and I'd tied 1 on instead of my usual nymph: I saw the mouth open and close and the fish turn down, when it came to the net it was a chub A bloke who shoots at AGL catches carp up to 15lb on a fly-rod and says it's like hooking a bullock Kevin (you have my DT10)
