Antis again, help needed on poll!
Les*1066 replied to mossberg-operator's topic in General Shooting Matters
The fact that the majority of the 'NO' voters are not FAC/SGC holders will always sway the vote in favour of the antis, so the whole thing is even more pointless under the circumstances. -
There's a ruddy big tunnel to hide them all in, isn't there.

I think some people desperately need a sense of humour implant.

I like the look of the Compatto too. It's a sort of 'midi' rifle - not a full length, and not a true bullpup, which I find quite appealing. I have only seen good reports so far.

Hi .... welcome to PW!

Not much sense - full stop.

Stock scratch repair and tidy up, any advice?
Les*1066 replied to Wingman's topic in Guns & Equipment
You could try something like this, but unfortunately on a varnished stock there's not really much you can do other than strip all the original finish and start again. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2060353.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xwood+crayons.TRS0&_nkw=wood+crayons&_sacat=0 -
Calibre for wild goats and occasional deer?
Les*1066 replied to Houseplant's topic in Stalking & Game Shooting
Just make sure the goat hasn't got 6 legs. -
Just about sums him up perfectly!

You could extend this into almost anything. Why bother having a cricket bat, for instance. All you can do is play cricket with it. Or why bother having a garden spade? All you can do is dig holes with it. It has to be the daftest question/statement I've ever heard.

With a VERY close control on postal votes. I can see them being the swinger if call me dave looks like he's (hopefully) losing.

Balanced BBC article on UK gun ownership
Les*1066 replied to Andy135's topic in General Shooting Matters
It seems like there's a first time for everything! -
I'm just travelling on a daily basis, so no hotel needed. I'm really looking forward to this show. I've never been before, but I expect it will be similar to the British Shooting Show? Or not?

Nice catty.

+1. They might ask you to return the gun to them for assessment, and under the circumstances I think that would be a good idea. This could so easily have ended badly for yourself or somebody else, so if it is likely to happen again then W&S may be able to do something about it.

Absolutely superb photographs! I particularly like the Robin, but they are all fantastic.

A hobby is a hobby, I suppose, so fair play to the 'airsofters'. I always thought paintballing was quite tame, too, until I actually tried it. Those ruddy balls sting!

Is it a hornet of some description? It looks scary, whatever it is!

You may need to try several different types of pellets to see which ones suit the best. Occasional flyers are just that - flyers. Trying to re-zero every time you get one will drive you nuts very quickly! Also, some springers are very hold sensitive, so again you'll have to see whether it prefers a firm hold or something lighter like the artillery hold.

Nigel Farage sums it all up very well:-

As somebody who struggles to nail two pieces of wood together, I'm always in awe of people who can do work like that. Great job!

You can shoot all day with a springer, but unless you want to carry a cylinder around with you, you can't do that with a PCP. Once you master your springer, it can be just as accurate as a PCP for vermin control. I have pcp's and springers, but if I had to keep only one, it would be my HW97K.

I really like the first one. I have been hooked on two edged dagger type knives after seeing my first Fairbairn Sykes when I was a nipper.
