  1. 99% sure they're lead had some in 12 and 20, bloody good cartridges all the same
  2. Ye he does use a thousand words when 10 will do. I started to watch out of curisosity as Longthorne aren't far from me, but its like all sponsed reviews you never actually get an honest viewpoint, whether guns, cartridges or equipment.
  3. No I wouldn't, but i don;t shoot any wildfowl anyway. I've fed are few game covers the last two days and the increase in small birds feeding on them has increased massively the last week or so, just seems the perfect storm for Bird flu to spread.
  4. Correct...right up to the point we vote them in then completely ignore there voters for the next 3 years until we have to dance the dance again. We as a group of farmer all have, as individuals and as a group sent Emails to our Local MP, who coincidentally is or was a minster for agriculture, about the state of farming and food security and not one of us as far as i know have had a reply. I rest my case your Honour.
  5. But we joined the organisations to speak on OUR behalf.....didn't we
  6. DD are the work of the devil
  7. I would imagine your regular pigeon shooter get presented with plenty of 80 to 100 yard shots during the coarse of a good day on the pigeons. Doesn’t have to be over your head. I’ve shot hundreds of pigeons with Winchester Winners 8s which I think were actually 1 oz 71/2s some well past 60 yards, pattern rules
  8. Not short of em here....see between 25 to 30 every day on 300 odd acres. Local big shoot released a few hundred 20 or so years ago. Biggest threat to them here are corvids and Birds of Prey. We can very rarely get round em to shoot any.. very elusive. Talking of Red Lists we're starting to see lots of Woodcock on the 5 shoots i beat on, and all but one stop shooting them years ago
  9. As we all know this is a monumental lash-up from the start with no conclusive evidence to support this huge waste of time and resources. I just hope they don't fold at the first sign of a fight
  10. Now.... Noticed this on the BASC website BASC has written to the government’s Environment Audit Committee to hold the Health and Safety Executive to account for significant process failures in its recent review of lead ammunition. Dr Conor O’Gorman explains… BASC has submitted evidence to the House of Commons Environment Audit Committee, highlighting concerns about the way in which the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has developed its lead ban proposals. It’s bad enough that the HSE’s findings are based on hundreds of pages of inaccuracies and assumptions based on poor data, but it gets worse. The HSE has appointed Professors Debbie Pain and Rhys Green to its Independent Scientific Expert Pool and the agency only published this information in October 2022. This is very concerning because both individuals have been quoted in the media calling for a ban on lead ammunition since the HSE review began. That clear conflict of interest is magnified when one considers that a dozen and more research papers that the HSE is relying on in its restriction dossier are authored by the very same lead ban campaigners. Furthermore, Pain and Green are being asked to advise on and critique the HSE’s use of that evidence for its proposals to ban lead ammunition. The HSE is in effect marking its own homework. If they were to throw the kitchen sink at this, i would rejoin in a flash, win or lose
  11. Because it doesn't say it is, it has to state on the box and cartridge it is a HP load, as i have said before
  12. HP loads have to be marked on the box and cartridge. Shot size will be larger than #4 shot AND have a greater load than 32g.
  13. TO BE USED ONLY IN STEEL PROOF GUNS. So clearly not an HP Load
  14. Yes indeed.......we are very lucky to have them.
  15. But it's supposed to be flying of the selves and boat loads going to Europe.....was that not what the Game Dealers thing ma jig's point of the Shoot Assurance Gold Standard..... MORE SALES ! Same as Agricultures Red Tractor Scheme crock of Sh!t
  16. Which was ? Just looked on Waitrose Webpage no game, lots of venison
  17. Chatting to a guy on saturday who'd been shooting on two estates that had gone all steel this year. He reckoned one still had nearly 800 birds in the chiller uncollected, they're still shooting twice a week wondering what to do with them. The other basicly giving them away. I guess i started on a commercial shoot then, it is a family shoot, that sell a day or peg or two to ease the pain. As to killing BOP i think more are killed on roads, certainly one spot near me, a (Dual Carriageway with a good rabbit population), you can find plenty of BOP carcasses .
  18. Out of interest what is your definition of a "Commercial Shoot" ?
  19. And as i understand it they're not taking much steel shot game either, but we knew that....didn't we.
  20. I visit The Farming Forum now and again and there is a thread on there of a farmer losting several cow and calf's to lead poisoning. Post mortum confirmed lead poisoning with no explanation what so ever. the land never shot over, no lead pipes etc. all obvious causes looked at. Other cows and calf's sharing the same the field tested showed no trace. Science can prove absolutley nothing
  21. So then held to ransom for substandard food, very logical.
