  1. Hi OPP I made one for my dad last year, we smoke fish ducks and pigeon etc,, we used an old 2 section fridge, Made a brick base to sit it on and to hold the main fire/ smoke chamber faced with wood frame and door with vent Drilled holes through from bottom to first level fridge Drilled holes to second fridge Cored a hole and put a flue on the top Job done this is for cold smoke, if we hot smoke we move the fire tray up to the first fridge and meat /fish in 2nd it increases the temp.
  2. Hi Scully, I have an M2, My son has had the Winchester SX3 and now has a Browning Maxus, I am not a fan of semi autos generally however, wanted one as a hide gun for pigeon and wildfowling. I have shot the beretta a400 and the wild fowling version extreme . I can honestly say that its the best semi auto I have shot for one reason .. reliability it cycles all loads of cartridges no problem, I use it as a walking stick in times of need on the marsh The inertia took some getting used to as i have shot for many years (decades) side by side and under and over and it all felt very foreign ... but in time the bags have grown and now i love it ... Easy to feed in the hide .. never gets cleaned just spray oil on it now and again .. a real work horse of a gun that won't let you down.. Good luck what ever you choose All the best Terry
  3. Thanks for the offer but i think i have an idea of what I am after now, I think this is the way forwards, it will also mean I can scan easier without having to point my rifle about.. I am thinking an Hand spotter (do you have the guys name?) and a Yukon Photon RT 6 X 50 S with a black sun pill in Nightmaster 800 IR ?? Would this work please any experienced night vision shooters? Also having trouble locating the Yukon model i am after says it was released here in Uk in 2017 august?
  4. Oh ok a magnification device, thank you very much for your help
  5. Nice, external IR like a night master 800 ? whats the realistic id range on a fox Thanks I agree most foxes i shoot are around the 100yd mark i they are further out ill try to call them in a bit, i have shot further but in general about 100 yards. My reason for seeing further is following hedge rows and so on thinking i could cover the ground quicker with a scan rather than keep moving spots , however this may be a better option and save on the pocket .. I have a night master 800 I use and can buy the blacksun IR pill for £43 would that work ok ? do you have experience with the night master? oh and whats a doubler lol .. Thanks Again Terry
  6. Nice, external IR like a night master 800 ? whats the realistic id range on a fox Thanks
  7. Thanks Rewulf, I expects the add ons to be a bit cumbersome, I will have a look to see if I can research the drone pro or ward D800 Thank you, I await there response telling me how many thousands i need to spend hahah , I am interested to see what people use themselves and how they cover fields ?
  8. Hi Oldypigeonpopper I don't have a fixed budget as suchI am flexible as this will be a dedicated Fox rifle, as i said did look at the XP50 that was £3.500 but to identify at range the guy who reviewed said use the lamp first... The idea of using thermal or night vision was to reduce the need of the lamps .. baffled me a bit.. especially at that price range Ive seen all sorts of set ups that claim good ranges but don't know enough about them, for instance nite site do one that An eagle dark ops about £900 are they any good? with the screen lighting up your face etc? are they robust.. or as an add on is it a pain in the A*s.. Thanks Terry
  9. Ok so I have a number of rifles and am looking for a night vision set up for a 223 I have trawled through endless review videos all complaining of battery life and clarity. I would like something reasonably priced I looked at the Pulsar XP50 £3500 then watched a review video and it said past 200 yards you'd need to lamp it then switch to thermal.. Would like to be able to see around 500 yards, not to shoot just to identify then call in to range .. So advice gratefully received and if you have a dedicated fox set up night vision or thermal that you are selling please let me know Thanks

  13. Very well done, I drove a very similar distance a day in the week and chose not too set up due to the lack of birds. I will be out again this week though Atb Terry
  14. The woodpigeon was allocated under the general licence due to the number increasing year on year when oil seed rape was introduced, giving woodpigeon food all year round, thus meaning the birds numbers did not reduce from hunger during the winter months. Shooting woodpigeon all year round and on stubble is to reduce the numbers and damage that will be caused, the very same as roost shooting. If you read the GL then the farmer is correct it cannot be denied however woodpigeons gain the majority of their food from crops (unless in trafalgar square I assume) therefore no prosecution would ever come of this. Also as you stated to the farmer his drill would pull pigeons across your permission that you intended to shoot therefore you are shooting pigeons that are doing damage to crops,(they do not have to be your farmers crops) It is never the farmer that gives permission to shoot the woodpigeon he only gives you permission to shoot on his land. therefore you shooting the flight line or roosting wood is perfectly legal and adequate under the GL. atb Terry
  15. I have no doubt that many dogs do and definitely would do this however, they would have been trained for it i.e. built up on distance and built up on running on hard standing surfaces. Leave the dog at home and take him shooting the following day.
  16. Again a bill with little definition, I am sure BASC will respond in a robust format, again knives and semiautomatic rifles come under scrutiny.. I look forwards to the response. Atb Terry

Aga man that sounds just like most of my days until yesterday,,, I am looking forwards to some shooting over drill however I am yet to find some on my permissions... i believe they may be doing some direct drilling .. ill have to keep an eye on that.. Thanks Jdog, it wasn't supposed to be.. but as with pigeon shooting it is never what you expected..but we enjoyed it immensely Thanks Dead eye ... only if they will make worthy reading lol
