  1. @Sciurus yesterday was warm compared with today mate, and it's like pea soup out there, I couldn't decide, shoot or not? Will they come out in this fog, and with it being so cold. But the gas ran out in the caravan last night so I was as well staying up to sort it anyway. Took nearly an hour but one came steaming in to the feeder, which was nearly empty when I arrived, sat just where I wanted it but was a tad twitchy, I let her eat a few nuts which settled her down, but she didn't finish the third. The second squirrel was seriously unlucky, I'd already decided I was packing up at 8:30 but I couldn't feel my toes, 8:18 and I'm trying to look up into the canopy from under my brolley, movement, the first had come from behind me and so did this one. I eased the gun into position and watched as it charged down the feeder tree, no messing, onto the floor, sniffed the dead squirrel then sat up with a nut from the little pile I'd put on the floor, Pfft whack. Both of today's squirrels flipped around a couple of times where as yesterday they just dropped. Buck and a doe. Picture with the thermal for comparison, I've been changing the colour settings a lot lately, I'm finding that different colours work better in different conditions, for me at least. Today's two in the middle, yesterday's look really small, I think of bigger squirrels being older more mature animal's?? Have a good day folks.
  2. It does, just not hungry squirrels, not yet anyway.
  3. Let's hope this is true, then this going it alone nonsense will go away for good.
  4. So this is the view of the Hill feeder, left and right, I couldn't decide this morning, woods or bed? It was cold, frozen crunchy grass and I was expecting them to have stayed tucked up warm. Took a while but a squirrel finally showed, no where near the feeder though, they slink in and out of the cover, so I carried on bird watching and looking around. I'd put some nuts on a log to the right of the feeder and the birds were loving it, along with two new fat balls, so with the drumming of the woodpecker and the bird song it was all rather pleasant. A couple of squirrels had appeared then vanished, but finally one sat up in the fork of a tree behind and right of the feeder, I'm guessing he'd gone for some height to look around, Pfft crack. One down and that's me happy, it was a good shot and the squirrel dropped straight down, but I couldn't see where it landed so I went and retrieved it. Maybe 20-30 minutes past with the odd sighting of another squirrel or two, but they weren't coming to the feeder yet, but then one started rooting around near the log, before going up onto the log, and sitting just behind the nuts Pfft crack, number two goes down, this one was probably only around 12mtrs but went straight down again. Then a couple of shots of where the shooting took place on Thursday. Certainly looked great this morning, spring has sprung. Two more males, the females must be holed up.
  5. She had probably gone looking for him because he said he wouldn't be long.
  6. Oh happy days, bag em up πŸ‘

I'd say look at the AA200 again mate, you know you like that gun, and it won't give you scope issues, or maybe even an Ultra, although that might just be a step to far for you πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Or what about a TDR
  8. An ultra is probably perfect then, but you'll get more shots from a scorpion, although they can be rare second hand.
  9. How old are the grandkids steve? Is weight a factor? If your ratting at night and adding NV it's more weight again. Usual suspects, Ultra, Scorpion . https://www.airgunforum.co.uk/community/index.php?threads/full-pcp-setup-brocock-compatto-mk1-in-22-cal.334454/#post-3342742
  10. You can't handle the truth! Or the truth will never out, one or the other.
  11. So sorry to read this Yvonne, I normally have the emotions of a rock but your poem had me filling up.
  12. I have no issues with that, I said to my kids, for the next 80 minutes the French, sorry Welsh hate us and we hate them, then afterwards you go and have a pint together. I'd say Wales is the team I always want England to beat over the other home nations. But the French will always have a special place, I'm looking forward to watching the end of the game and listening to the comments. Can't wait to play the French, just hope it's not a Welsh referee.
  13. I was behind, I had the game recording but I've just stormed out my own front room before I started swearing in front of the kids. The first half was a farce, that ref shouldn't ref another game ever. On the back of that the first half was terrible, thankfully the mrs took the kids a walk and things settled in the second half, Itoje should have been subbed, he's brilliant but the ref had it in for him, Jones should have seen it and managed it. England did brilliant to get back to 24-24 the Welsh played some great rugby in little phases, the players coming off the bench doing really well. So 24 a piece, England have the chance to win despite everything that has gone on, then they give away 3 penalties in a row!! Absolute muppets, kicking away possession and putting themselves under pressure. As Wales scored the try on something like 78 minutes after the chase for the line I left the room bleeding fuming to say the least. The youngsters for Wales looked great, playing at 9 & 10 and the Welsh wing wizard Rhys. But for me the game was tarnished by the french pair playing at 16 & 17 for Wales. Jeremy Guscott nailed it, if you can't get an opposition player sent off then get the ref to play for you.

It looked nice that one, I was put off these when the price jumped up but the quality was iffy, but if they've been sorted then there supposed to be nice.
  15. Were the other dead squirrels still on the floor? They may have been spooked?
  16. That's what's been suggested and makes sense to me, they should use the female pheromones in those good nature traps, they'd be fighting to stick there heads in.
  17. If was certainly a shock how cold was compared to yesterday, I had a master plan but it didn't plan out, bit of crossed communications, but it turned out a lovely morning for a walk with a bonus squirrel. He was just sat sunning himself, seemed twice the size of yesterday's. Has anyone heard if squirrels enter a rut like red deer when breeding? Cheers fella, no tricks today πŸ˜… That's two months worth fella, I've been 3 or 4 times and had nothing, someone else has said the other females might already be holed up with young, or knocked up, possibly she was the only available female and drew in the males?
  18. Get in there, fill that bag.
  19. You see my friends and family have taken things seriously, and used common sense, despite working throughout, some in the nhs, some in the prison service and others working, thankfully none of us has caught covid, that's why I feel perfectly safe and happy looking forward to say getting the BBQ on, meeting up & enjoying ourselves. Have you not criticised people for still flying in and out the country during lockdown, I have, many others have but its apparently perfectly legal. Honestly they could offer me a free holiday to majorca in July and I would say no thanks, I'm really hoping things start going forwards here now, and that the dates that aren't dates given by Boris work out.
  20. Doh, should have looked earlier
  21. Golf courses beckons, I need to do a few bits there before they reopen, but I might just have to call afterwards, I can take a quick look, travelling light as I know the feeder is full, gun, sticks, thermal, sitting/game bag, really light πŸ˜…πŸ˜… I've just checked the weather, it couldn't get better, I'll just have an hour😳😳
