  1. I'm pretty sure it's a joint venture with fausti so I like to think there's a good quality gun there but the W&S seen to be cheaper. I like the 712 because the few I've seen seemed to fit fairly well. Ive looked at various 700's but none ever felt right
  2. 😂 I love a SxS and at the price they are there's something out the for everyone to give them a try. When the time is right I will have a W&S 712 in the cabinet.
  3. Because the barrels are the wrong way round 🤭😂 I don't know, I'm just not a fan of the disposable/throw away culture I guess? I wouldn't knock someone for owning one any more than I would for the car they drive, I just think it doesn't hurt to look past the low price and warranty because there's far more to a gun than that.
  4. I seem to be getting alot of anime ones at the moment, no idea what they are about but it makes a change from ear wax 😂
  5. Have to disagree, I've had a beaten up A303 sporter, which never missed a beat, only failing to cycle comp x, but I can't hold that against it lol I then had the 686 special, which I had to part with last Christmas unfortunately. It balanced on the hinge pin, swung beautifully and again, never let me down once. The last one is the one I still have, a 687 f/c which again, has never missed a beat and handles spot on. All of those guns were from 85-87 going by the serial numbers and that a303 had definitely had a hard life. Based on that I wouldn't hesitate to buy another older Beretta, as I said above I wouldn't by a new one, to me a new silver pigeon isn't worth 3x the price of a base ATA, they dont have the feel or I don't know, just that little something the older guns do. My local RFD has a 687 at the moment, m/c with two flush and two extended 30" barrels all for £850, to me that represents great value for money and a great start for either clays or game.
  6. That's where the lack of understanding of how this actually works shows. Its common sense that any pigeon you take off a stubble, are less pigeon that will breed and hit future crops, which they will. Taken from the RSPB, pigeons tend to stick to a 10 mile area, so there's a good chance that the same pigeon feeding on your stubble, will be feed off the next crop that goes in? The best option for pigeon would be to come off the license all together, the are ever increasing in number and restricting the options to control them benefits no one other than the antis.
  7. This is the position I was in, and I brought the ATA thinking that well if anything goes wrong, I'll be covered, but I ended up out of pocket and and left with a gun I had lost all confidence in. Ok, a big part of that was down to the two RFD's that messed both me and the gun about, but had I brought that Beretta in the first place, it most likely wouldn't have happened. I'm far from a gun snob, I've had plenty of cheap and nasties that have been treated the same as the more expensive ones I've had. It's not nice to see someone having issues with any gun, as Scully said, it can lead to a ruined day. When my ATA double discharged we was out on the clays and it was extremely disappointing and scary to be honest, then having to cut the day short to get it back to the shop, on the other side of that it's good to see that people are getting good use from them and not having problems, I just don't agree with the whole ' Beretta in disguise' because they simply aren't.
  8. Sorry, should have clarified. It went back due it double discharging, which was repaired but the state it came back in was ridiculous. A guarantee on an ATA means dealing with sportsman, and they don't have the best reputation. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy a brand new Beretta either, as they aren't a touch on the older guns. Yeah of course they all throw they same cartridge and will all kill/break clays but they are not of the same quality. For near enough the same money as a new ATA you can have a older but better quality gun from one of the bigger names, that realistically your not going to loose money on should you sell, and in my experience, having owned and still currently own an older Beretta, you won't have any troubles with.
  9. Don't be fooled by a guarantee. I brought an ATA new an had issues with it, the thread is on here further back if anyone wants to read it. Long story short for those who dont, between Forelock and Load of barrow and sportsman in Exeter they managed to damage both the wood work and metal work. Obviously neither would own up to it. Ended up selling it at a loss then done the sensible thing and brought a mid 80's Beretta 686 special for only a couple hundred more than what I paid for the ATA. Yes lots of people buy them along with other budget guns and don't have any issues, but they are not a cheap Beretta.
  10. Depends where your buying from I suppose? Barbour is bang on medium for me, but my Hoggs of Fife is a small with a bit of room to spare, certainly didn't need the medium as it was way too big.
  11. I used to like superfasts, hyper Velocity were ok through an auto too. When I was still shooting clays I was using blue diamond's, there a cracking cartridge.
  12. I used Schwartz chicken seasoning on burgers, meatballs etc. Gives a really good flavour.
  13. No, unfortunately not. Might be something we could stick a PW patent on though?
  14. Stubby fingers, I even corrected it to nickel once 😂
  15. From what I've read elsewhere it seems like you could actually made your cartridges pay for themselves back then too. I was always told the stocking contained a lump of coal too 😂
  16. 1970+ Don't see so many paper with the buckle head though.
  17. I don't suppose you remember if the .410's were printed up the same as the 12's do you?
  18. Few more ive picked up lately, Been looking for an Urton of chesterfield for a while now. Picked up these nice 3 full boxes too as part of a swap
  19. I was an army cadet 15 or so years ago and we used to get ration packs on weekends away. I loved them, preferred them to what was cooked at home 😂 Used to come with a big Yorkie that said 'not for civvies' on the side, chicken and dumplings boil in the bag 😍 Treacle pudding that would stop a bullet. I had one a few years ago from a family friend who had a couple and they had changed completely, Inc some nasty cheapy chocolate and brew kit.
  20. I've got a Hoggs of Fife Harewood jacket and love it, had the first couple couple mornings and I've been wearing it with just a shirt underneath and it's kept all the wind and cold out. I did have a Ryedale one before, the fit was horrendous. Ordered a small and a medium to begin with, the medium one drowned me and the small wasn't bad the the body but the arms were made for stretch arm strong. Ended up with an XS in the end as the best compromise. It lasted about a year of pigeon shooting and general wear in the cold before it started to tear under the arms and then the zip broke. I did look at musto etc before getting the Hoggs but just can't justify the £500+ price tag.
  21. Does anyone from the Woodbridge/Ipswich area remember this department store? Cheers 👍
