  1. It's cheap and highly addictive. It's apparently being used by some dealers to cut with other more popular party drugs. It ensures that your middle class, company director/ weekend wide boy keeps coming back for more instead of the occasional weekend and Christmas party 3 for £100 deal.
  2. I have a KOFS Sceptre in 28 gauge. From new it was less than £400. I'm sure you could pick up a lightly used example for under £300. It looks ok on the outside and has yet to fail to fire which is good enough for a gun that I use 2-3 times a year at most. Being a budget Turkish gun it obviously has signs of cost cutting if you look for them. The underside of the ejectors are roughly machined, it has an alloy action rather than a steel action and the barrels are coated rather than blued. A more traditionally manufactured gun like a Lincoln will set you back close to £1000 but will be better quality.
  3. Legalise 'party' and recreational drugs and take the control out of the hands of the criminals. If you could go to a club for example and buy over the counter substances which are industrially produced and regulated then there would be no need to buy charlie or MDMA cut with fentanyl and drywall from some dodgy bloke with a burner phone. Part of what makes these drugs so damaging is the lack of control over their strength and what they have been diluted with. If you could ensure that these substances are sold in fixed quantities with a known strength then a large part of the risk is eliminated. A lot of overdoses come from using very weak and low percent purity substances for the most part with the occasional batch being very high purity. When a regular user then takes the high purity stuff in the same quantity they find themselves dead very quickly. There is no way for the user to know what they have. I would also suggest that they are taxed in same way alcohol and tabaco are and the earnings directed toward prevention and treatment. If a criminal organisation can ship coke half way around the world through multiple parties with each stage taking a cut of profit with a healthy allowance for interruptions by the law then I'm sure that approved organisations could manufacture, distribute and sell these products in licensed facilities for far less even with a large percentage of tax. Buying in this way also removes the link to harder drugs. There will be no more 'Sorry pal, don't have any coke but I have this crack you can try. It's the same buzz, trust me'. It seems to work well enough in Amsterdam and large parts of the US with Cannabis.
  4. I much prefer morning flights. It's generally easier to collect shot ducks in increasing light than pitch black, even with a good dog. The weather has been very poor so far this year with very infrequent ideal weather, wind and tide combinations. I've had a few trips out which resulted in me sat watching a perfectly flat calm sea with ducks roosting on it 200+m out despite the met office promising strong winds which would have pushed the ducks into the marsh. Now the weather has improved slightly it's peak game shooting season and I don't have the time to get to the marsh. You can almost guarantee that February will be cold but calm for the entirety of the remaining season. If only I were retired and I had all the time in the world..
  5. It's not uncommon in registered sporting or FITASC events for the squad to be in the immediate vicinity of the stand or hoop. Especially where friends are shooting together and offering some coaching to or ribbing the shooter in the stand. Shooting from a hoop enables the shooter to point the gun anywhere. It's up to the shooter, course setter, ref and bystanders themselves to ensure that they are acting safely in that environment. It's not too hard to imagine a situation like where a person has taken a single shot at a no bird simmo pair, lowered the unbroken gun with one shot remaining, turned to acknowledge the ref and created an unsafe situation. That's not speculation on this particular case but it can and does happen to even the best of them.
  6. Terrible situation for all involved. A woman with life changing injuries, another who will have to live with the consequences of her actions for the rest of her life and likely also an instructor who failed in keeping them safe and also has to carry that for the rest of their lives. Any idea what the shooter and possible instructor could potentially be facing from the law? I often see shooting ground employees who are there on minimum wage to fill traps, cut grass, general dogs body as well as host groups for hen do's and other parties. Unless properly trained and renumerated, it's not a job I'd want to do (More an observation than an assumption of the case in this particular situation).
  7. Good write up. Its the buzz and feeling of a good days shooting that I try (and often fail) to convey to anyone who asks what pleasure I gain from a day stood in muddy fields murdering things. It cannot be accurately conveyed unless experienced for real IMO.
  8. In this context an air rifle is relatively harmless but you are correct in stating they should be treated with caution as per any other firearm. Unless you cop one to the head or neck it's unlikely that you'll need more than short trip to A&E to sort out. In comparison, being shot with even a 22lr sub is quite a lot more serious and life threatening. The purpose of a brightly colored tip or other telltale signs would be to make the police question themselves prior to instigating a full scale response. A response would be required nonetheless but at least they can approach the situation with a suspected imitation airsoft or air rifle rather than having no choice but assume that they are dealing with a real weapon. I'm not sure a would be terrorist would be too concerned with trying to conceal their weapon as an imitation toy gun in the hope that a lesser response ensues. Even carrying an imitation in public would ensure a police response of some sort. It would certainly be quite far down the list of terrorism priorities.
  9. That's correct but it does make a lot harder for the police to identify as a harmless air rifle, especially when it has a dummy bolt and magazine. It's makes the situation as a whole more dangerous as the police cannot easily identify that the gun used is an air rifle and forces them to approach the situation on the assumption they are dealing with a real life weapon. When it hits the fan it would be near impossible for untrained officer to tell the difference between a near miss from an air rifle or a centrefire rifle. I am anti-ban and I would never propose a ban on 'tactical' looking air rifles but purposely dressing up an air rifle to replicate a firearm is silly. At least they should have an identifiable mark such as a dayglo tip to signify that they are a relatively harmless toy and not an illegally sourced assault weapon. I believe airsoft and replica toy guns are both subject to that for very similar reasons. Very lucky that the perpetrator didn't end up dead as a result of his stupidity and the very casual attitude the police seem to have in training non-firearm officers in firearm ID.
  10. I had a MK7 Fiesta ST that I bought new when I was around 22 which was probably my favorite car. It handed like nothing else i'd ever driven and was reasonably quick with 200bhp and around 1200kg in weight. It was a ST3 model in spirit blue so it looked brilliant and had all of the options and extras and as it was a 16 plate it even had the revised suspension setup so it was a little easier to live with day to day. What I'll never forget though was the almost crushing anxiety that came with owning it. At the time they were being stolen in the hundreds so leaving it anywhere other than the private car park at home was a risk. It was also the first new car I had ever owned so every stone chip, every swirl mark and blemish was heart breaking. There was also the constant fear hanging over my head that any day a NIP or worse would drop through the letter box as a result of some spirited driving. It was far too easy to break into license losing territory and a prison sentence would have been easily achievable on a longer straight. A job change and company issued cars meant that it was left gathering dust and I sold it for around 70% of its cost new at 4 years old. If only I had known COVID and the resulting sky rocketing of used car prices was only 6 months away I'd have kept hold of it and likely sold it for what I bought it for. I'd also rediscovered shooting and country sports and a 3 door car with lowered sports suspension would have lasted all of 10 minutes. I was also given a 22 plate Audi A6 S-Line as a hire car for a few months while my company car was on order. That was a beautiful car and surprisingly good off road with the quattro system. The BIK tax was devastating given the £56k list price and high C02 emissions. It worked out around £1200 over 3 months in just tax alone. It was also relatively terrible on fuel, never once achieving over 35mpg from it's 2.0 TDI.
  11. Looks to be a black ops tactical sniper air rifle from SMK. https://www.justairguns.co.uk/black-ops-air-rifle-22/ As a person I am anti-ban anything but dressing air rifles up as a military firearm is something we could do without.
  12. I've no doubt the OP will be fine but I wouldn't discount them discussing each and every piece that they can find. It's how you respond that counts I suppose. My FAO was actually quite amused by it which surprised me as she had zero sense of humor about anything else and was completely serious and professional for the whole interview. She even refused a hot drink.
  13. Sadly, I wouldn't be too sure about that. I had my SGC interview with South Wales Police and they must have scoured my records to find something to bring up. It was a slight telling off from a local bobby that I had when I was around 12 years old. I would never of thought that it would be logged as the plod only stuck his head out of a car window to shout at me as I climbed a school fence to retrieve a football. FAO described it as an ASB incident that I hadn't declared. Nothing ever came of it once we had laughed it off but it just goes to show what they may have on you. They'll almost certainly discuss it in the interview but If the OP has declared it and is able to admit that they were just the usual childhood misdemeanors that we all do during our formative years and that he's since grown into a well rounded and respectful member of society then there shouldn't be an issue. There are certainly people out there with tickets who have more than the usual teenage anti social behavior on the their records. Op. If you are based anywhere in the Swansea valleys, there is a shooting coach based in Coelbren who uses a selection of ATAs, KOFs etc as a tuition guns. May be worth contacting him for a lesson or two so you can try the guns out and find out if they suit you. They have a hard life firing thousands of rounds between sporadic cleaning and they seem to hold up well enough. He's a good coach for bringing on new shooters into the sport, very patient and will point you in the right direction safety and etiquette wise. He's a well known coach with SWP and Powys police so he's good to name drop in your interview.
  14. Same here.. Mine is a company provided vehicle and while it is very nice, its extremely complicated and potential nightmare outside of the manufacturers warranty. It has a list price of just over £42k and not something I would choose to purchase with my own hard earned. The battery is buried deep under the rear seats and boot floor but above the fuel tank. It then has associated electrical kit (chargers etc) integrated into other parts of the car. I imagine that should you suffer an electrical system fault there would many hours of time spent just accessing and fault finding the various units and control modules plus the cost of actual replacement parts. Previous car was a Toyota self charging hybrid, the car itself was very cheap with an antiquated interior, cloth seats, no parking sensors, tiny little low resolution screen etc but the hybrid system was really good and was very fuel efficient.
  15. They more than likely belong to the staff. Once they are above certain pay grades a salary sacrifice lease scheme makes a lot of sense and as well as saving tax, you can lease quite an expensive electric vehicle for a relative pittance. AFAIK the NHS schemes are quite generous compared to rocking up to Audi or BMW and buying a vehicle with the manufacturers finance or lease packages. As far as the no sound goes, most have an (partially) artificial electrical hum in place of engine noise so they should be just as audible a modern ICE alternative. The PHEV model that I am blessed with certainly does, I can hear the other half pulling onto the drive in that just well as the petrol engined car we have. Agree that PHEV and BEV vehicles are quite misleading in terms of efficiency and green credentials. The PHEV we have is quoted at 180+ MPG when day to day it averages 40 MPG at most. It EV only range quoted as 34 miles but we've never had more than 20 before the engine started and it reverted to a solely ICE car, only then it has to cart around a flat 100kg battery for the remainder of the trip. The car it replaced (a self charging hybrid) achieved over 55 MPG across the two years I had it.
  16. That's another extreme and where we were 1990's into 2010's. Also very unhealthy and damaging both physically and mentally. Social media is also an issue and fit-fluencers can get ****ed. There is so much fakery and abuse in the fitness industry. Against popular belief, for 95% of people a six pack is not optimal and without heavy cutting most people will never achieve. Only once in my life have I ever had a visible 6 pack and that was at the end of 18 weeks of intense cutting and fat loss. It was a means to an end (stag do and wedding photos) and a completely unsustainable way to live. Less than 1500 calories a day, 2 hour conditioning and training sessions 5 days a week and a 15000 step target.
  17. I didn't say that she couldn't be your guilty pleasure just that your kids shouldn't be looking at her and thinking thats an acceptable way to live their lives.
  18. One annoyance from today is the normalisation of obesity. I think it is crazy that as a society we seem to have shifted from the opinion that carrying a few extra pounds is ok but not desirable to it's ok to be morbidly obese and your health completely out of control, so long as you are confident in yourself. It almost seems to be a repeat of the normalisation and glorification of the smoking of tobacco in olden times. Will we one day view it in the same light as we do smoking and we (I at least) see those stood outside the hospital doors sucking the last dregs of smoke into their cancer filled bodies while hooked up to a life supporting drug and O2 supply and feel little very empathy and pity? This is from one who was once a 'fatty' and fell into the trap of fast food, beers and idleness. It's very easy to do and very hard to get out of. N.B. Lizzo, while an ok musical act, should never be considered an aspiring figure for young people.
  19. The camera will be on a headband mount so it will look strange from cameras POV. I would say that for a lot of those shots he's mounting into the space in which he thinks the bird is going to be and pulling the trigger. Some others he's using swing through with a quick flick of the gun to create to the lead required. Seems to be working for him but I'd say he definitely a dedicated game shot if not then certainly someone who has a very peculiar technique for shooting driven game.
  20. Interesting, thanks. It will all come together for him with age no doubt.
  21. Good video, I enjoyed that. Must be daunting for a young dog to swim out into miles of open water, especially as they don't have a great field of view from water level and probably can't see the 50M+ out to where that duck was. How would you normally build the dog up to this? Would you just gradually build up the distances until he was comfortable retrieving at any distance?
  22. If I paid X amount for a sky package and then had to sit through 15 minutes plus of adverts every hour I'd be super ****** off. As it goes I use streaming subscription services and YouTube only. As soon as one of them so much as shows a glimmer of an advert then they will be cancelled.
  23. The 3's are technically HP due to the shot size being a 3 or larger, this is despite them only reaching roughly the same pressures as the same cartridge in a shot size 4 or larger. Something to do with the inability of the larger shot sizes to compress sufficiently through a choke without an increase in pressure. Steel shot is a minefield and we're still relatively early days in its use and development. I can imagine that the same sort of issues and discussions took place when switching from BP to nitro proofing way back when. I can also imagine that a lot more people just carried on with nitro cartridges in BP only guns regardless.
  24. Take the fight to the only other party in Wales that is in with a shot of knocking Labor out next time round. If you could get into Plaid Cymru and show them just how much a vote winner actively going against the devastation of the rural economy would be then you could trigger a response similar to that which lead UKIP to force the conservatives into holding the brexit referendum. I'd say that Labor are already hemorrhaging popularity amongst their core voter group following the appalling M4 expansion and 20mph limit decisions made by Labor in the last few years. If the competition are seen to be hoovering up votes in the mid and north Wales areas by supporting the countryside then they'll soon reconsider. It's all about power and how long they can maintain it for these creeps.
