  1. Thank, All info gratefully received.
  2. Thanks for that. We are going to be dug in in Fuchal so we have the local options and there are an amount of trips that Tui do but they are a bit pricey in comparison to doing them off of you own. This last year we went into the local tour shops and did a tour up to mount Teide and most of Tenerife island. Another trip was across to the Island of Last Gomera on a hydrofoil and a coach trip around the Island. These were considerably cheaper than the Tui offerings.
  3. From what I've seen of the terrain it is a lot of tall mountains with steep gorges and narrow roads that wind up and down. So far as I've seen, it looks a bit similar to an island called La Gomera which is off of Tenerife where we went last year.
  4. We only booked it yesterday for the end of May so we've got about 55 days before we go. So time to view and plan.
  5. " My Nan flew there".!! ☺ Your nan isn't a very good pilot. Had she been in the dog and duck before the flight? Still they say that if you can walk away, it's a good landing. I hope that our flight/ landing is nicer than that one. The flight out to Rhodes was the most exciting I've ever had. I think that out pilot was ex red arrows. All of the passengers cheered wildly when we eventually landed. I think that some of the passengers had encountered an emotional moment with the toilet.!!! We are generally beach sort of people but we split up the days between sunning, and trips of driving around. I usually ask if there is any clay shooting in the area. When we were out in Turkey they were horrified to start with because they asked if I wanted to shoot someone. 😊😊😊. When we were out on Crete the hotel manager told me about a clay shooting ground and when I eventually managed to find it, I managed to get a round of sporting in.
  6. No, clearly you live in a past era. I grew up when there were only wind up watches but for about the past 50 years digital watches have been out there. Mobile phone became common 30 years ago . If you ask nearly anyone under the age of 40 generally they dont look at a watch. They flip out their mobile phone. I know that there are winders still out there but not so common. I do tend to use my wrist watches. One is a battery powered analogue and the other is an eco drive solar powered jobby. No wiñding, no battery, tottaly acurate to the second.
  7. As above. what's it like, what is there to see and do there. Trips etc.
  8. But how representative of time reading devices are you. I wouldn't have thought about people not being able to tell the time from analog time pieces until a lecturer friend found that the vast majority of his students could only use digital time because of the use of phones and computers where there are no hands. These particular students had no knowledge of hour and minute hands or where the hands were placed in regard to quarter past or half past or quarter to an hour. Even on tv they just say ... the six o'clock news etc.
  9. How many actual mechanical timepieces are in use nowadays.? Either they are smart devices and the rest are battery or solar powered. I haven't seen wind up watches for a long time. Another angle is that most people don't carry a watch at all.. they flip out the phone. Another angle of this is that there are a lot of people who can't read the time off of an analogue watch.
  10. I enjoyed looking at all of the cheap bargain guns that you advertised. I'd like to find a no.4 in good condition which has bad or broken woodwork so that I could transplant my woodwork onto in order to make a good one out of. That shouldn't be to impossible considering that sbs kick like a mule and how they don't have choke tubes and they have 2 triggers and their not long enough in the barrel. Everything about them is wrong and it's a wonder how they hit anything SO no one will ever want one. To shoot with that is.
  11. Back handers.? Do you refer to the clouts round the ears that you get for not passing applications. My personal opinion of local councils of all types is that the people on them haven't got a bloody clue. Everything that they do is either biased or underhand to get things through on the nod for some reason. I wonder why?? Every village in the south east has become a building site. The local area that I am in keeps passing building permission but when it is appealed the government inspectors turn the applications down and ask why they have even been considered because the area is within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
  12. It all depends on what they might allow trade in.
  13. I note that the two women sitting either side of him at the announcement. The one in a tartan suit had a right face on. A face like a bag of spanners and as if there was a terrible smell under her nose as if he had just been chewing on raw garlic or that he'd **** himself or both. The other one gave him a warm cuddle. The tartan one barely wanted to shake his hand.! Tartan one would be a good match for the ginger one that sits next to starmer with a hatchet face.
  14. I have downloaded an app called "seek" you take a picture of ANY plant or tree etc leaf/flower/bark, and it will inform you of what it is with Latin and English names and all sorts of info about it.

    IF....

It's not a case of worrying about this sort of thing because we've got no control over any of this but seeing as they only found this asteroid a month ago,! Now considering that Russian one was half the size of the one that went between us and the moon, consider the structural damage that, that one did. The Russin one was an airburst. IF that one had collided with us it could have created a massive sunnamy or completely destroyed a city like London or Manchester. Considering the state of the country's finances regarding everything imagine what effect would have on our lives. It sort of makes packing a bug out bag for the prepers a bit of a non event.

    IF....

It has been reported that an asteroid is passing between us and the moon today. The asteroid is estimated to be about 90 Mts in diameter which is about the diameter of the hight of Westminsters Elizabeth tower 316 ft which houses Big Ben and is moving at about 17,500 miles per hour. Now they say that they don't totally know what's out there in the blackness and they found this small one ?!!!! About a month ago. OK in this instance it is going to mis us BUT what would have been the planning if it was going to hit us somewhere.? Some may remember a few years ago that a smaller one passed over Russia early one morning. That one sort of burnt out and blew up at altitude but the shock wave blew out windows and damaged buildings etc as it passed over. see YouTube vid, Does anyones household insurance policy cover for asteroid strike or does that come under ACT OF GOD.? if you survived the impact to try a claim. A clip of the one over Russia
  17. I wouldn't have a clue. It's all to many years ago and I never saw any. I was a schoolboy. I did hear about Coopal powder ,,,, whatever that was but never encountered any. I did go through a couple of boxes of Frank Dyke cartridges that were red paper cased It was a time of gytorp, Eley, and then Rottweil, Winchester GB and then Maionccl and SMI. I got into reloading using 80 & 82 series powders using at first a French Nemrod reloader that the girlfriend/wife bought for me. Again we just shot for the pot and fun so we didn't use hundreds of cartridges.
  18. Is all of this about EVERYOÑE HAVING TO HAVE AND CARRY , A national identity card.? Is it because there are so many illegal immigrants floating around in the system. Some years ago I worked with a French bloke and he said to me that before the second world war that Gypsies used to migrate between France and Spain and were sort of stateless. The French decided to give them French nationality status. The French identified them all and issued passports and other documents. All went well until the Germans overran France and the SS rounded up the unwanted and shipped them off to a holiday camp. Is this voter ID a prototype trial of an ID card rollout.?
  19. But did you take down the charging baked bean can with your 416 Rigby.. Gat gun.
  20. I vaguely remember a couple of lads at school using yellow wizard but I never saw any. Most of the ironmongers hereabouts sold Eley grand prix or Frank duke. I 4hen went over to Winchester GB's and Rottweil. Remember back then that we just didn't get through that many cartridges. We would get out every weekend for walk up. Rabbit, ducks ...various pheasant, partridge, pigeon the odd woodcock. We would split the drive's up and walk and stand for Fox. Basically I had a dog and walked, but I got a fair bit of game that the dog put up coming back over. I was well happy and the occasional odd Charlie would try to slip back also. I used to use #6...#7 and had a couple of BB,s in the pocket. I might shoot 10 or 15 cartridges of an afternoon. Maybe 30 to 40 if decoying. The kill ratio was pretty good
  21. How long does the system take to churn out one of these vòter ID certs.
  22. What ..! Are you sayjng that a shotgun or firearms cert as issued by plod ain't worth the paper its printed on.? But you can use them to buy cartridges and weapons. Good job I've got a photo ID driving license and a passport.
  23. Thanks for that. If you can use it as you state abroad that would be usefull to have sometimes. What about the bus pass.? Do they accept that. 😊😀😁😆
  24. sorry, i dont understand. What have you applied for. .?
  25. Yes they wern't very accommodating. One day I was passing through and I dropped in and asked if it would be ok to have a quick look at the layout.. ( I didn't have a gun with me as I was on business) Nahh ... if your not shooting you can't see the layout.?? what.? I didn't argue the point. Their loss. Several other people have said similar things. What year was that there. I never saw it and have never heard of its existence .
