How does this happen.? What's the mechanics of it.

Following on from the above, recently a person who I have known for about 40 years has been scammed BIG TIME. I am not talking behind his back because he wants people to know how he was scammed in the hope that others don't get scammed as he has. He was sucked in by a total load of nonsense which to him made compeling sense. Anyone with two brain cells would see the fault lines straight away. BUT according to the police there are rakes of people falling for it. It all seems to be linked possibly to an organisation which he worked for some years ago. He has some sort of dormant pension with them and it MIGHT be possible that his personal details were gleaned when the system was hacked. He had a phonecall from the police... not the police... he was told that a person had been arrested for fraudulently using his A/C. He then proceeded to tell the fake police everything about his personal and financial life. He was told to go to his building society and withdraw £4500 CASH and a courier would collect it and take it to a forensic lab to have it checked.???? He then proceeded to GIVE this random courier £18500 CASH from a tin box under the bed jobby the extra day. He worked doing cash jobs and had amassed this over a period of time. He was old school. Building society book.... no Internet online banking for him.... £22,000.. gone... given away... no reclaim from anywhere. Total muppet. A laughing stock...... he knows it... only his own fault...... BUT I FEEL VERY SORRY FOR HIM . Who hasn't made a silly mistake. Who wouldn't feel totally lost if you had had £22,000 stolen from them. The people who do this are heartless scum. The irony of this is that is that he isn't stupid or thick, he's just an ordinary bloke that got drawn in like hypnosis. There are two angles to this, being stolen from and giving stuff away. He's resigned himself to things that he had planned won't now happen. No one got physically hurt. This was stupid because all of that squirreled away money doesn't exist. Even if any of it could be proven and someone caught for it the cash didn't exist. It's gone. Very sad. Another aspect is that anyone who is self employed and works with cash is a fiddler and on the make. The tax inspector told my brother that. The tax inspector said we class you as guilty to start with you prove us wrong.

IF you still use cheques the info is on every cheque that you issue. The bank name, your name, the bank sort code, your A/C number. Having this Info will not get you scammed. It is no different to telling someone your name and address. It doesn't give them access to your home and your wives knicker .draw. should there be one to access. But if you don't know or you think that it might, you are vulnerable to being scammed. Because you aren't aware of how scammers work. More to follow.

But they just haven't got a clue. If we are a mistake like that they'd be down on us like a ton of bricks. They just make it up as they go along. Personally no one has checked my guns ,security or anything for 20 years at least. Yep they've visited but its just been a quick chat.... no tea and biscuits. Just,. is everything the same.? I believe that Kent employ people that have got two arms and legs and that does. I've had certs that have been returned with no ammunition allocations for held calibres. Ammunition allocation for calibres that I don't and never have had. I've had ghost moderators that I haven't got. In one instance a cert had to go back three times because of incorrect additions and other basic but serious faults. AND it's not just me. I've heard this sort of thing from several other sources. Considering the tightness of certificate conditions where you can fall foul of the law for one .22 cartridge, how Can one inaccuracy on certificates be in any way acceptable. They just seem to shrugg it off. Only the other day a retiring feo said that Kent wasn't issuing ANY NEW GRANTS at all because they haven't got the staff available to do the work.!? How can this be acceptable. And what do any of the orgs do about it.

As i previously wrote above,. And now it's .. oh dear... how sad.. never mind.. with the amount of money he has received and the age, if and when he recovers or gets well it will be a case of doing the garden. Hopefully his wife and family stand by him in his time of need to cope with this complete blow up and melt down.

Obviously. All of this malarkey just don't sit right. Why didnt the parents go directly to the police.? Why haven't plod gone and had a word in this individuals ear..? Whats it really got to do with the bbc.? They should have said right from the start "what xy or z do out of work ain't nutting to do with us". I don't know the nity grity.... it's not my business but her son lives in the house and as far as I know he has residency proof going right back to whenever. But they have cleared her bank accounts, investments, ISA's, 3verything. right down to zero. One account has been taken down to the 23,000. They take her pension. To me it is kind of like being in a prison where you are controlled and robed. AND there is nothing that you as an individual can do about it.

My eldest sister and her husband worked very hard and paid into private pensions. He died and she received his pensions. Eventually covid got hold of her and she has ended up in a care home. The home charges her £4,500 a month. She has been in there over two years and THEY HAVE BLED HER SAVINGS DOWN TO £23,000. They take her monthly pension and leave her a bit of pocket money. They are looking at her house but I think that may have been protected somehow. She did spend a lot of money on herself but no one knows how or when the end of the conveyor belt will come. If she had blown the lot she would still be getting the same care in the same care home. If you've got more than the allowed amount you might as well spend it... or the system will take it.

The trouble with that is that you have to have items òr a product that that others want in enough quantity to survive. The idea works in a very basic principle but in reality you would never be able to convert your barterable products into something that others would want. Father used to say. "It’s a wicked world in which we live ". Sargent major Williams would say " oh dear, how sad, never mind". There are far too many people in the world and the personal vews of one ant won't alter the direction of the juggernaut.

Mind you the other week I couldn't pay for an item using my phone app and had to resort to sticking my card in the reader and type my number in. AND I wasn't able to pay for my car tax online. I had to ring up and speak to a human who processed it for me. So it could happen but there were ways around this. I don't know how anyone would barter for a coffee and and a sandwich at 40 thousand feet over the bay of biscay.

the great majority of people have no confidence in the actions of the police full stop. it's only in recent times that officers have tried to get away with Murder. anything else is ok.. as far as they are concerned. When I was a kid A friend of the family was a special cop and he was up to any bent situation that was going.

Why not. there isn't very much established work within 15 to 20 miles of where I live in Kent The majority of people do work from home. when I was a kid at school I used to wait every week for Thursday to come round and mum was dispatched to get a copy of the shooting times when she went shopping. Then the articles changed from practical things to a load of rubbish fairy stories. A bit like when Jack Hargreaves changed from pigeon shooting to weaving baskets or driving a pony and trap.!
