  1. Average pheasant save your money on all these high brass flash case cartridges. Any reasonable 30gram 5 or 6 shot will knock em down. try some pigeon carts by any manufactory. should be fine.
  2. I thought 28gram was a big load for a twenty. Reading all this 30 and 32gram stuff you might as well sell your 20's and buy a twelvebore. Try 23 or 24 grams.
  3. I used to Love the Eley VIP,s in the green and gold cases. The new black case version or re vamped VIP,s are rubbish. Gone back to RC Sipe. years ago had problems with some Eleys with carts missing out the boxes. they sent me a voucher for a 100 free carts at any Eley dealer. Eley has been bought out by a Spanish company now a few years back all I hear is poor quality and customer service from many. In my experience if you want rubbish customer service in the shooting world try BROWNING.
  4. Cannot advise here really. I have only shot the Eley Olympics they were very good even at long range kills were good. but the price of lead sucks.
  5. Try RC 20 T3 28gram 6 shot they went really well through mine or Express super 20 28gram 6 shot they were pretty good to. Buy a few of each make to start with and find out what goes well through it.
  6. 6 shot is ok generally if you use a lot of choke should not cause you any probs unless they are over 40 yards or more. personally I prefer 5 shot at distance and a lot of choke. The sipe 5 shot are great squibs, 32gram plas wads. I have killed some crackers over the years using them. I also liked Eley VIP's 5 shot when they were in the green and gold cases I used them for years. The new version in the black case is just not what it used to be. So now I am back on the Sipe by RC and they are in green cases. Out of my 32" sporter 3/4 and 3/4 choke they do a wonderful job. I believe the Sipe 5 shot is a uk 4.5 shot so you can get 6 shot which should be uk 5.5 shot also in fibre wads. about £260 ish per thou @ the mo. Try em out really good.
  7. Browning is to release a B725 in 20 Gauge. They are on the usa Browning price list for 2014 in the states. Will it come to the uk in April don't know?. You could ring BWM. Bet they wouldn't know till they get hit round the head with it anyway. Talk is there may be a 32" one as well. Sit back wait and see.
  8. Not a lover of open chokes. works well on the skeet range though. prefer 1/2 + 3/4
  9. Spoken with a guy who is going to sort me a choke at a clayshoot at the weekend. all sorted now. cheers
  10. Phone a cartridge company, they will explain it for you.
  11. I have owned both. todays Beretta's anit a patch on the older ones. The Ceaser Guerini i had for eight years was shot out, floppy and loose and on trade in not worth alot.( Essex sporter 20 gauge 32 ") Beretta is my preference of the two.
  12. so thats why nearly all game carts are made with lead, of an antimony below 4% then. Cause it obvisolsly does not make any difference then and gamebore ,express lylevale, Hull, etc obviously have no idea of what they are doing then. there are some real fools on here these days. shoot what you like if you know better. Recormended pigeon loads are 5 shot or 6 and 7 shot anitimony below 4%. trap shells are for trap or sporting hardened lead does not deform so quickly on impacting quarry fact. causes runners more quarry is wounded. at close range it not gonna make alot of difference as most of the pattern is is direct on the quarry. at longer ranges this is certainly not the case.
  13. I have two friends of mine both buy pigeon days and both say never again.
  14. I mean I give em up since they went into the black cases. Nothing like the old clear ones.
  15. you only get what you pay for. cheap shells ,cheap performance. so you got a look for value for money when pigeon bashing. RC sipe or Express super game.
  16. what you need to watch is the the amount of atimony in the lead using trap carts. cheaper ones for pigeons generally better as the lead is softer. trap carts of 4% and 5% antimony or above, are a waiste of time for wing shooting, as the lead is so hard you just keep drilling the quarry and not killing it cleanly. Really you should use game carts that are designed for the job.
  17. extreme are pretty good carts. i shot 250 a couple of years ago now they killed really well. but just go find a 32g 5 shot just as good and you might save a pound or two. As for the Clear pigeons the new black ones, for me not very good the old ones were far better. cutting them open side by side they have changed the plas wad. dont use em no more find em irregular.
  18. It is a great shame this chap is ill, i feel for him. I would spend some time with him first to see if he is still fit and able to hold and fire a shotgun before taking this on. If you take him leave your gun at home and stay in the same hide to accompany him if any problems arise you can be quick to take the gun from him. My friends dad has parkinsons and he shoots, still holds a sgc the drugs he takes dont cause halucinations and his GP at the mo says he is safe to carry on and wrote to the police on his sgc renewal. But he has to see his GP every year to be passed fit to continue to hold his sgc by his GP stipulated by the police. But that time will come he has to call it aday.
