Dunkield
Seems to be a 2 horse race between Button and Cavendish - Cavendish gets my vote, purely because he would have had work harder to achieve what he has.
beretta
cavendish would be my choice. takes some doing what he did but no doubt ill be wrong.
yanibaby
David Haye deserves it for beating that big monster Valuev.
Gordon R
I am not an Man U fan, but Giggs has been a model pro for donkeys years.
FinFerNan
Giggs will get something like the "lifetime award" or some such thing. I'm not a Man U fan but he deserves a knighthood AFAIAC. As for the others, they have all worked really hard to get what they have. But Mr Button has been paid £millions in doing so. Don't get me wrong, he's a good driver and I was dead pleased he won. But it would be nice to see one of the other, lesser known World Champions on the list getting a bit of credit. So my vote goes to Beth Tweddle. Yep, because sitting on your **** in a F1 car for two hours in blistering heat or the pouring rain is easy. After all anyone can drive a car, but then again anyone can ride a pushbike. A quick jolly around france or a championship over 17 races? I know which one I think works harder. As for Andy Murray? *** is that all about? He needs to get a personality transplant before even going there.
MC
Either MC or Catamong for me In that case it would have to be me, CAtamong is used to coming second :yp:
Axe
Mark Cavendish, Jessica Ennis or Beth Tweddle Not in any order but as I look at it, seems to make sense.

smcgreg1
Andy Murray for me Really?? They guy is completely void of any personality
Dunkield
I know which one I think works harder. Compare riding flat out for 21 days cycling 2,200 miles up and down the sides of mountains and then saving enough energy to outsprint the rest of the field at 70km/hour for the last 500 meters Compared to sitting in mainly computer controlled car for 17 hours or so racing over a season.... MC
True enough Stuart, But I could cycle that sort of distance each day, OK I will never win the Tour de france and so could the average man. However I sincerely doubt any of us could get in a F1 car and even get it out the pits let alone drive it anywhere. It is not sitting in a computer controlled car at all. It is having to be inch perfect lap after lap, thinking faster than most of us could only dream about while listening to the car, making the adjustments needed, seeing where everyone else is and what they are doing. And then you come back to the start and do it all over again. Just a walk in the park isn't it.
ME
But I could cycle that sort of distance each day Martin, Let's make it interesting and a bit easier for you. London to Brighton is a mere 58 miles and downhill most of the way. You have till June next year (a whole six months !) to train. >LONDON TO BRIGHTON BIKE RIDE< I'll stick in £200.00 to get your sponsor form started. Before you ask, I did the London to Brighton and London to Cambridge in my younger days so have already proved that I can do it ! EDIT: Sorry to derail the thread chaps, maybe a bit of cut and pasting to another new thread is needed ? Peter De La Mare
Ya, driving an F1 car is just like driving your T reg Focus Diesel. F1 drivers are in the top 0.01% fittest human beings, the 2 hour race is the only part you see and a small part of the overall effort throughout the year. Button took part in a Triathlon (or something) near my house earlier this year for fun and came quite high in the rankings iirc. Button for me. Guest rimotu66
No comment, apart from shooting the only other passion I have is M'cycle racing and theres no chance of any racers getting the award even though they do have a personality... 955i
Jenson Button, no doubt about it. And I hate F1, they ruined our bike track at Donington only to pull out at the last minute

I have been up a fair few of the mountains the Tour de France uses, and I bet you'd have trouble driving up them never mind riding a bicycle, it's hard enough to breathe at some of the altitudes without exerting yourself on a bicycle, cycling is an underated sport in this country and Cav and Wiggo and all the other lads and lasses have done us proud this last year
