This will be the fourth year that we have kept a running count of GREY SQUIRREL kills.

The GREY SQUIRREL is an alien species to the British Isles, and causes considerable damage to British forestry, and wild birds. Damage is also caused to property, which can be dangerous as electricity cables and propane gas hoses are gnawed into.

GREY SQUIRRELS carry the squirrel pox virus, which kills Red Squirrels within a few days and is decimating our native species. One female grey can produce 18 kits in one year, so even one dead grey can and will make a difference. May I therefore encourage all PW members to do whatever they can to reduce the GREY SQUIRREL population. For the purposes of our count, it matters not if the GREYS are shot or trapped, please ensure safe shots, and humane kills.

Please try to take part in our National Day Saturday 13th. February, and remember to post your kills here.
