kdubya
so you manage to get hold of a handgun ( illegal aint they) you shoot someone through the forehead killing them outright and you get shock horror TWO years what a pigging joke, bloke and his wife local to me got 5 and 6 years respective for conning an insurance company out of 1/2 million. it really is time the judiciary were given the boot the bunch of wig wearing idiots. al4x
was there any malicious intent? or was it a tragic accident? Its fine saying it was illegal etc but what would banging him up for life achieve?
dazza
'A teenager who accidentally shot dead his 12-year-old sister while messing around with his mother's illegal handgun has been jailed for two years' Nice family.
kdubya
was there any malicious intent? or was it a tragic accident? Its fine saying it was illegal etc but what would banging him up for life achieve? are you for real? a tragic ACCIDENT a gun (illegal) hidden in the garden a 16 year old not a four year old points it at his sisters head, and pulls the trigger, yeah some accident, and what happened to mandatory 5 years then? why was the mother and the guns owner not put away for a min five stretch, youd probably get more if you waived your air rifle at a burglar rifling your shed (through a window of course) KW
al4x
where does it say he pulled the trigger? He was messing about with an illegal gun he didn't know was loaded. he is young and stupid but it happens, it says it fired which could even mean it was faulty. As for the mother she should have gone down for 5 and the owner of it but they weren't mentioned in the first post
killer_pigeon
i thought it was mandatory 5 years for the firearm and extra for the ammo ? these judges make it up as they go along
Gordon R
Banging him up for life would take one scrote off the streets and perhaps save another life. That is old news - hasn't he been arrested again for gun possession?

All parties involved should of got put down for at least 5 years.
pegasus bridge
accident or not - the delightful mother should have got the full 5 years for being stupid enough to tell her 16 year old son about the gun before she went out (probably taking the family brain cell with her). scummers. Axe
It says in the latest report he was sentenced originally for Manslaughter and in the first report, it said his sentence was reduced from the mandatory 3 years to two years. Does Manslaughter only carry a mandatory sentence of 3 years, that can't be right surely? The full weight of the law should have been used then, as it should be now. Only then will it send out the right message.

In that case why was his mother, Who was holding the gun in safe keeping for a gang member, not prosecuted for manslaughter as well. ( as far as I can recall she admitted this, though the gang member may have been discribed as a freind )

lineshooter
Apparently it was a converted Brocock Me 38 revolver, I dont know how hard it is to get a revolver to go off accidentaly but as said before if it was the fact that he had got hold of a legally held weapon ie taken it out his Mum`s gun cabinet, I`m sure the licence holder would have got a heavier sentance for negligence.
