njc110381
That's terrible news! I wonder what happened? Did someone lose the plot or was it an accident? I really hope it was the latter, not that it will help the poor guy who died
Cranfield
It could be a tragic suicide.
Toombsy
Whatever the reason for the death, I'm sure the brown stuff is going to hit the fan where regulations are concerned. It only takes one death and the idiots in power will start coming up with all sorts of new guidelines

paul1966
if the info i have seen is correct it was someone that was having a lesson. if so i feel sorry for the instructor.
garyb
What's even sadder, is the fact he felt compelled to carry out the "act" within the grounds of a Shooting venue. If anyone here ever considers similar - Do us all a favour - and keep our sport out of it. Theres plenty of fields and car parks!
Sprinter
Oh my word, I was there today Fortunately it was hissing down with rain so we just had brekkie and left, we were long gone by 11:30.

Axe
Obviously a very troubled and disturbed person who would take the time to plan and instigate a suicide in this fashion. You can imagine how the staff must feel, what an awful start to their year.
Catamong
Yes, apparently it's "that" time of year, if you're minded to do it, you're more likely to do it in January. Cat.
vole
If he had not shot himself he may well have jumped off a bridge or hung himself. The gun was just the means to an end. As is sometimes the case however the victims parting gesture was to spread the grief .I feel sad for the engine drivers, the cops and in this case the shooting instructor who has been implicated. I feel these troubled souls should be able to get help for whatever their problem is. Local health worker I heard of went to his GP for a drink and Class C drug habit expecting help. Result was he lost his job, driving licence ,everything, so back on the booze.

steveb
Think the same thing happened at Cluny in fife, now to hire a gun even if you are a cert holder you have to fill out a form and give a contactable referee ie there and then that they can phone and question

Mungler
You are all heart. Well, he has a point. Suicide, tragic as it is, doesn't have to involve being selfish and jumping in front of a train of packed commuters, a car or blowing your head off in front of other people. The guy that did it is long gone and yes it's tragic but he won't be dealing with any of the consequences; think for a second of the others that have to pick up the pieces. What if that instructor never venures out of his house ever again because he can't face the world? What about his family and the emergency services that have to attend the scene? welsh warrior
no why do these things happen im just waiting for the laws to get harder now.i dont want to see our sport our passion be driven out by do gooders. who only make the masses happy.why is it the sportmen of shooting get it so bad when 99.9% of us treat firearms with the up most respect and care. Mungler
I don't think this incident will effect the sport; the guy could have just as well asked to take a car for a test drive from a dealership and driven it into a wall at 100 mph. The point made is if he shot himself in front of an instructor and others, then my immediate sympathy lies with those in close proximity who witnessed it and attended the scene and of course the deceased's friends and family who will be picking up the pieces. Whatever pain the deceased was in ceased when he pulled the trigger, which is when the grief, pain and anguish of others started.
