Shuck.
I pick a pump over a semi every time mate, reliability, durability and if you use them proper are just as fast as a semi
mickmep
like both, but the pump is so much more fun. took mine on the clays last weekend and really enjoyed it. got a pistol grip stock for it this week , haven't had chance to try it yet, but i think it will be even better. i think the pistol grip will suit the pump action better than the standard stock. CZ550Kevlar
Not taken my pump out on the clays yet, but damn on pigeons it is just so much more satisfying to use. Already planning on getting a second one.
Slug
You guys really should get over to Harlow with me for a PSG day, you would love it there's a couple guys from Sussex and Kent attend.. Pistol grip, good and bad, they can screw up the cycling on some semi's, some M2's and some gas guns,as they soak up recoil, they are good once you get a grip on them, especially if your loading with the weakhand, I might get one to have a play with it and see how I get on I think they are around £80 for the SN
Ozzy Fudd
pumps everytime. 500% more reliability than a semi, and having to pump the second or 3rd shot in gives you time to settle down and get on the target, and you cant just fill the air with lead (as much... )
Chard
I'm not a fan of semis. Too much complicated **** to go wrong, and it seems to go wrong, too often. I've shot with plenty of blokes using them and watched plenty more, and the jamming and messing about is a regular feature. OK it's only one or two jams on a round of 100 clays, but that's one or two too many. I don't like all that clunking and clanking in your face either Pumps, on the other hand.... Load of fun and very reliable, almost indestructible. If there is a misfire/jam, it's usually because you haven't cranked it properly and that comes with practice Edited February 8, 2010 by Chard

casts_by_fly
I don't like pumps. I've shot them. I've killed game with them. I still don't like them. I learned how to shoot on a semi and a sxs. I've always shot a semi the best. The problem with a pump (for me) is twofold. First, I never got into the habit of racking the action after a shot, so follow up shots were always slower. Second, I have short arms. With a pump, you have to have your front hand held out further than a semi. I have always choked up a bit and held almost right on the action of my guns. That doesn't work with a pump. I have no problems with jams. Once a gun is properly adjusted and settled, jams shouldn't happen. I shot 75 clays on Saturday after a dozen shots Friday evening. Then put another half dozen through it on Saturday afternoon at animals. Not a blip. I can shoot 21g with it if I want. Thanks Rick
Mungler
I have an AL391 semi (ooeerr) and a mossberg pump. The pump gets more use because it is more fun. Mind you, it kicks like a goodun has a rusted in 1/2 choke and gives me a sore face but it's a real grin - especially on the skeet range or 100 ESP at Dartford
chezza1986
Own a Beretta Urika 2. Best thing i've bought in ages and i've had it a couple of years. Only ever jammed with Hull Comp X 28g fibre wads. Not sure why but a few of my mates face this same problem but apart from that a semi ace. Quick follow up shots and low recoil. Really wanna try a pump though. Does look fun pumping each round at a time. Bet you get a few funny looks at the clay grounds??
humperdingle
Bet you get a few funny looks at the clay grounds?? Sometimes yeh, but pump actions are always the gun other folks want a shot of!

Although I would rather use a O/U for the clays I seem to hit more with a semi (auto that is). I have a Pump but havn't had time to use it yet sound good though. Slug
Thats because it's "like in the movies" as my son said the first time he used oneThey are just so much FUN to use The pumps are great mate, they are heavy but it's so physical, if you short stroke it.. then it's down too you, I can hold the pump in one shoulder now and load and run..fantastic
stripey999
Well I quite like pumps...and I quite like semis...but which one is best? theres only one way to find out...FIGHT
Slug
Over a straight COF I reckon you would win IF we had to run and load I reckon your get your head kicked in..Pumpers are sooo much fitter than Semi's..
neil smith
Hi Steve Take a look at this video, its a stage from the IPSC european shotgun championships in the Czech Republic last September. The stage was 8 targets shot through a slot that had a waterfall in front of it to disrupt your vision, it also had some no-shoot targets Is this guy using a pump or an auto ? the fastest time on the stage was 3.71 with all hits. MY Benelli Supernova all weekend ..300+ rounds...no jams And guess what ? i kicked *** against a semi on man +man He said *** he had a Semi 6 plates ,shoot 5 reload 1 shoot 1 Done him... Yes same here. I think that due to the pump design it is better at the technique of load one, shoot one. On my safety course I actually won the "load one shoot one competition" and the guy in the "final" with me was also a pump shooter.
Kent Militia
i think the pistol grip will suit the pump action better than the standard stock. Yeah although with a pistol grip it's harder to load the gun at a fast rate.
