I was down at my Mum's in Kent at the weekend and we were rummaging through a load of old sheeeeeyte.

We found these old photos of some young thin bloke with some fish :hmm: :(

20lb 4oz Cod off the beach at Herne Bay back in the '70s :good:

Same fish. Been up all night. Very knackered - not really miserable :hmm:

Cod of 10lb or so and a little 'un off the beach.

The big 'un again, and a little 'un.

The silverware for the big 'un. Scooped a lot of gear for that one :yes: Starting to put weight on here. Started to drink Guinness :good:

Cracking fish, and plenty suppers there. Are the days of catching fish like that from the beach gone or does it still happen?

Sadly, very rare now. You occasionally hear of a biggun but very scarce now. Even small ones seem to be cause for celebration now

Thas a real bootie Chard! No fishy's like that in the Mersey? Rory Gallagher used to wear a check shirt just like that mate.

Halcyon days in the 70's from the Kent beaches like Dungeness. The Norfolk / Suffolk beaches used to chuck up a few good un's. We used to take several fertilizer sacks with us to carry the fish back.

I wanted a 484 Zoom, but got one of the early Zziplex rods instead. I made it up from a blank  Best rod I ever had, far better than modern Zziplex
