Daveo26
I think iv finally reached a point, after much swapping around that im actually happy with whats in my cabinet. It might sound odd but shotguns are not like airguns or i suppose rifles. No amount of pointing and shouldering a shotgun lets you know how it shoots. I think shooting a scatter gun accuratly is a more natural and instinctive discipline than aiming a rifle. Im not knocking rifles but I think you need to be used to your shotgun before your any good with it. So what have i got? Nothing special is the short answer, but i like them.... A 12 bore o/u thats very nice but not fancy for clays. a 12 o/u thats a bit battered but has 3 1/2" chambers for rough shooting. because i can shoot anything through it.. a 12 black synth semi auto and a .410 fully modded, a proper rabbiting tool. I think i shoot all of them fairly well and above all i really enjoy shooting everyone of them I hope this is the end of swapping about............................until next week Anyone else had similar problems with guns? Mungler
Yep, like you, after much chopping and changing I am *there* for shottys but have some changes to make in the rifle department ; the Ruger 10/22 just doesn't get used and I have fallen out of love with .22RF as a calibre. The .17HMR is just that much for capable and versitile. Likewise, the .223 does nothing for me any more. I was thinking of going with .22 Hornet and getting rid of the .22RF and .223. The .25-06 has been the surprise good purchase and I have half an eye open for the right .308 but no mad desire or rush as the .25-06 seems to do it all. Paddy Galore!
Almost there, would like another o/u, had a browning 325 not long back which was lovely but i know it wouldn't get much use. Also fancy a side lock. Personally i love 22lrs, now got 3 examples of what i think are the best. my17hmr gets a bit more use now but won't replace the 22lr. My 22/250 is a bit overkill on the species that i'm allowed to shoot so that's going to be traded for a 223 at some point. Just bought a 6.5x55 from NJC, and i'm very pleased with that, just a 308 left to get, but like mungler said i'm in no great rush either. I also have a moderated 410 which is proving to be quite a good gun for squirrel. last is the SPAS12, an absolutely useless gun for most things moving, i just wanted one. My "nice gun" is a 325, its a grade 1, like i said nothing special buts like new. Iv just joined a club as a probationary member so ill have the problem all over again with rifles............ njc110381
I often wonder if I'll ever settle. I think getting shot of my 6.5 to Gram was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done but I'd been thinking about it for a while and if I miss it that much I can always buy another! I can't wait for the .338 to turn up and I quite fancy a .243. Who knows, I doubt they'll be around for ever! Selling a .338 Win Mag could be a big loser though?! Colster
I started off with a sub 12 Gamo Springer, tricky to shoot but it did enough to get me hooked so put in for my SGC/FAC, bought a CZ452 Silhouette in .22LR which I loved from day one and it hasn't put a foot wrong since, then bought a Baikal SBS BLNE but found the LOP too long (it had been extended), so sold that and bought an Ugartechea SBS BLNE, I found the comb a bit high but ferreting had finished then so it didn't get much use. Sold my Gamo and bought an AirArms S400 Xtra which I love to bits then quite by chance came across a Verney Carron O/U in a local gun shop, he offered me a good price for the Uggie so went for it, fits like a dream and very happy with it, so much so I'm considering getting the stock restored (couple of small dents and chipped varnish) I have a variation in at the mo (HMR, .223 & .243) so probably more to come but happy with each of the ones I have now. allthegearandnoidea
I'm pretty happy with mine in general, the Anschutz .22 is great as is the sako quad .17hmr. The CZ .223 is also good but the barrel is a bit long and I need to get that cut down at some point. The ruger 10/22 needs some work doing to it, the trigger is so heavy it takes all your strength to pull it. The weihrauch 77k air rifle is good, but wieghs a ton. I would like to get a pcp air rifle but put off by the cost. My shotgun is quite nice to look at, just a cheap gun but a sidelock sxs with fairly nice engraving. There are quite a few shotguns that I would like, I need to win the lottery first.
Dunkield
I am. I bought/sold a couple of cheaper shotguns until I found the right one, that was about 20 years ago. I knew exactly what rifle calibres I wanted, so I applied for them and bought them. It really isn't difficult.

Its surprisingly simple unless you listen too much to people on interweb forums who convince you of the need for more guns! I've only ever got rid of one gun the rest are still in the cabinet. Only change will be a decent 12bore at some point and a larger deer rifle when i get round to it
beretta
i am. 26 years old now so just about getting used to where it shoots, 687 beretta
Dunkield
Same here (apart from the geting used to it bit ) 687 sporter 30" - good old guns.
shaun4860
Oh come on, you can do far far better than that.... Proper shotgun im happy with, Browning ultra xs. Toy guns are a beretta 303 sporter and a greener martini action single, also happy with. I have a side by side i use in my syndicate, does what i ask of it cheap and cheerful. Single barrel bsa snipe, ive never used. .22 cz silhouette nice gun..... I keep looking at the new Beretta as400 explor, i really need a try of one of these....If its any good its probably the only gun i would change my xs for... shaun
Dunkield
and a larger deer rifle when i get round to it aaaahhhh well in that case what you need is the ulimate stalking which is..... etc etc etc [Of couse what you should do is think of a gun, tell Mungler he has to have one as it really is it is the 'do all rifle', get him to buy it, wait a week until he is bored with it and then buy it off him for buttons ]
Mungler
Ah ha ah ha ha etc. .25-06 is the do-all calibre <end of> I have now made the decision to get out of .22RF and .223 and get into .22 Hornet. Now just to complete the wretched FAC forms....
Dunkield
Damn I could have sworn you had a white/yellow deficiency Do you have a rough idea how much you have spent on variations? you must be able to do the forms in your sleep And your 25-06 wouldn't be much use on a Bear, just ask NJC

Have to say with an HMR and .223 I've most bases covered for my area. Not too many bears or elephants round here that need shooting.
mattslaptop247
I've been through more guns than hot dinners, but I think I have a few I'm sticking with. I have a lovley English sxs that is in mint condition. I will be using it on my syndicate this year. I also have an old hammer gun made by a local gunsmith with lovley damascus barrels that are just being restored. I hope this will be my pride and joy to hand down to the next generation. I also have a single barrel and a double barrel 410 which are just my toys, and an english sxs that I am looking to sell to fund some of the restoration job on my hammergun. ziplex
I've been thinking about getting rid of one or two as they just don't get used. If I go pigeon shooting or wildfowling I take the M2, the Browning 525 hardly ever gets used, (I don't do clays much any more), and the SXS like to smack me in the face at every opportunity. I'm sure if I sold them though i'd regret it and want 'em back I'd like to get a rimfire of sorts but haven't really got much land that warrants it's use, so it'll sit in the safe keeping the others company I guess. Been tinkering with the idea of getting a decent pcp air rifle again though.
Dunkield
It might just be my loathing of paperwork, that and the fact I bought the right rifles in the right calibres for my needs in the first place.
