the annie is very nice. and accurate but then again all hmr's are only as accurate as the ammo. and from time to time you get a bad batch of ammo.

the triggers on them are superb you can have a fully adjustable single stage or two stage which is extra. and now if you see a thread i put up the other day. you can get a 8 shot mag for the annie which was its only let down before i think.

Buy a CZ and spend the difference on a scope. You won't get much more from the extra dosh spent on an annie I wouldn't have thought. The hummer is flat and accurate whatever rifle you choose, better to spend the dosh on decent glass I think.

As for thumbholes, yuk. Why do people like thumbholes, bloody uncomfortable things to tote round a field if you ask me, on the range perhaps, but in the real world, no thanks!

I got a Cz 452 American. Great value for money and very accurate. Only draw back is the trigger pull, they can prove very heavy in some cases.

Hopefully i will be upgrading to a Savage model like the one pictured above. Or the Wiehrauch Hw60j. Both very good guns in this caliber.

Best to pick a few up and if possible try one or two out. See how they feel.

But what ever you pick, i hope you enjoy it. Cracking little caliber fair play.

Fantastic Mate! Since I've had Mine everything else has gone by the wayside. I shoot on flat ground with a lot of dairy herds around me. Stunning rifle, as are a lot of CZ's, very much looked down on. A simple trigger kit has them as good if not better than the rest, very accurate and have old world charm about them. When I got mine I went for a Anschutz, loose big bolt ****, not for me. No regrets what so ever.

Not actually used a .17 HMR Anschutz, but I have a few .22lr.

The reality is the Anschutz have their history in TARGET, but that is .22lr.

They make excellent barrels (used by many other manufacturers) and rifles, but how good do you need to be with a HMR.

If you cant do better than 1" with ANY HMR, I suggest you take it back as faulty!

My CZ can perform better than me and I have no need to spend any more money on an Anschutz for field work, even if I had £Millions I'm not sure I would.

If you want kudos and a nice piece of wood, and you can afford it, then by all means get whatever you want, but please do not believe the average/good shooter will do any better with it in the field than almost any other HMR!

CZ!!! it was one of my better days, 4 shots 100yards!

To be honest I've never fired any other HMR than my CZ American, don't see the point, if it's in my scope it has a seriously reduced life expectancy!

Cracking rifles, can't comment on any other make as I don't really need to!

Edited to add - never put a group up like that at 100 though Dekers! Smart shooting that!

SYSS (South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies) sell a trigger kit for the 452, three sear pin sleeves and three springs. You'll be able to tweak the trigger down to a crisp 2lb pull no creep easily. A little mechanical knowledge and equipment is all that's needed (by that I mean a hammer and a punch!).

I've done 4 so far, all with no problems and the owners are more than happy!

I bought a .17hmr CZ452 16" Varmint Barrel wooden stock, it was the cheapest one id seen brand new and from what i could tell it was just as good as the rest.

I swapped my cz for a ruger in .22 as my permissions werent suited to a .17hmr but thats changed and Iv got a Sako Quad now in wmr which is a very nice gun and has the option to change the barrels.

I can see myself getting a .17hmr again if the ammo prices dont go up too much and I wont be hesitating in buying a CZ again. The annies are normally alot more money for not alot more gun, that extra money would go towards a nice set of glass as thats what will make most difference. Trigger kits are readily available if you find the trigger to be a problem.

Just my two pennies
