Is Decoying UK still trading, this is an enquiry for my m8, who 5mths ago placed an order online with Paul at this company, the order was never delivered. On contacting the company & speaking to John Deacon, my m8 was told that a lot had gone on in the company & Paul was no longer working for them, however John assured that the order would be despatched immediately, that was 4mths ago, still no delivery. My m8 has phoned on numerous occassions, asking for John, to be put on hold for upto 10mins then the line goes dead, he's sent numerous e.mails not received a reply, so where is John & Decoying UK. :hmm:

A friend of mine is currently in dispute with them over a jacket which he ordered, and for which the money was immediately debited from his account. It turns out that they never even had the size he ordered in stock and his refund has still not appeared.

He is currently exploring the fine line between sharp trading practice and criminal deception. He is also about to lobby BASC who regularly carry their advertisements with a view to them not being accepted.

The damage that it must do to BASC by association is tremendous.I know that I would not be best pleased if I was treated in the way that many others have by dealing with an alleged rogue trader whose details I obtained from the house magazine. A clear endorsement in all but name.

Fun and games ahead!

Dekers, no rumours, just 1st hand experience from myself and lots of others!

I am not in the habit of spreading rumours & I've not instigated bad press, just stated the facts

Chaps, you are misinterpreting my words, I have already heard a bit of bad stuff about them, I am not defending them, simply saying this is how it starts>>>

I have never dealt with them directly but I have heard more than a few tales...this is perhaps the way bad press/rumours start?!?!

I'd say you are giving them some bad press and there have been plenty of rumours!

ATB!

They will not be advertising with us for the forseeable future.

I know some members of BASC ahve had problems with orders and refunds, as they have been in touch with us. We have tried ot hlep where we can by contacting Decoying on their behalf

I have no doubt what so ever that Decoying are very sorry about all this and will do their best to get it sorted, it is very much in their interest to do so after all.

I do not know what you mean by 'nasty' I know both of the main people there personally, one i have known for over 10 years, and the last thing I would call either of them is 'nasty'

Yes they have got themselves into a fix and it is taking much longer than they would like to get it sorted, but remember these guys have been trading for years and its only in the last 12 months or so that things have gone wrong.

They claimed they were moving to a new warehouse etc - taken them well over 12 months!

They lie, do not return calls, blame other members of staff and generally are no good.

I am glad to see basc seperating themselves from this firm, it added to the belief that they are a trustworthy lot to deal with.

I know I get fired up everytime I see any posts regarding them, but they put me through the mill with my order - I hate to see anyone else getting caught by them.

There is some good well priced gear on the site - so why don't they pull there cacks up and supply as promised? - they must realise that they are or will be on the road to ruin.

ok all you do is put your complaint in writing and give them 7 days to pay up, then make a claim against them with moneyclaim online. Next time use a credit card and then you can do a chargeback on them if the goods don't turn up, if enough people do it they will get an awful lot of stick from their card handling account and probably have the facility removed.

David obviously this is a bit close to home with BASC advertising for them can you help any members who have had issues for months if you know the guy personally?

Al4x - there card facility company will not deal direct with the customer or except any liability, I tried them for starters and they just refer you back to Decoy.

I wish I had used a credit card & do with any internet purchasing now, no matter how small a purchase!

Its a royal pain in the neck - and I wander how many people with small purchases for £10 -15 just give up?

they won't deal direct but you do it via your card provider but usually only possible with a credit card. Hopefully the bad PR will stop them stinging too many more people, perhaps people with proof who are BASC members ought to direct complaints to David as if their service is still as bad its not good them being recommended to members whether they are personal friends or not.

Decoy was an advertiser in Shooting & Conservation, but no longer.

My personal relationship with the owner has nothing to do with BASC or complaints customers of Decoying may have

Your first port of call MUST be with Decoying if you want a refund or to chase goods, unless of course you pay by Credit Card, when getting a refund is much easier.

It is exactly the same with any other product or service you buy through seeing an advert in the BASC or any other magazine.

We have contacted them on members' behalf to chase up delivery / refunds though and are happy to keep doing this.

Gents

I have just personally spoken with John Deacon on the telephone, and explained about the adverse post on PW.

John has advised me that the move to new premises is now complete, and stock levels are increasing daily.

He sincerely regrets that any cutomers have been inconvenienced by the move which took far longer than anticipated due to meeting the levels of security demanded by GMP.

John has assured me that the backlog of orders is being processed as quickly as possible, and has asked that any PW member who has an order outstanding to contact STUART who is in charge of the mail order department. He has indicated that there will be a level of compensatory gratuity (freebie) to PW members who have been inconvenienced by the move.

Please be advised that I have no connection with Decoying UK, other than that of a satisfied customer, who has witnessed the growth of the business over several years. I intend to visit the new premises in a few weeks when I'm not shooting, and will do a short report then.
