was asked to remove some pigeons from a barn so went for a look last night with my son jamie .**** me there must have been 300+ :D :D spoke to the farmers wife as he wasnt in yet and she was shocked when i said i was going to shoot the :o :o :o when i asked her what she wanted me to do she said could i not just shooo them out  :lol:thought about saying well i could ask them to leave first if you like but i never

then the farmer arrived and all was good he said i dont care how you get them out just get them out (they have been craping on all the hay in the loft and now its has to be burnt and every moring when he goes in to feed the cattle they **** every where as the fly out ).i told him i would lamp them as he said fire on :D :D :D

the plan was i would lamped and jamie would shoot (he loves air rifles )we were using a .22 under lever air rifle (dont ask what make i have no idea had it for 20 years) me i like something with a bit more punch  any how after 1 and a half hours there was no more pigeons in the barns alive most had flowen out and were now on the roof of the barn jamie shot realy well and i reckon he fired 150 shots for 130 kills .we will be back at the week end to finnish the job but the farmer was well happy when we showed his the bag. there were lots in with the cattle and there was no danger i was going in to get them and a few on the roof so he said he would get them in the morning

I was under the impression that feral pigeons classed as vermin so it was OK to shoot them under tha lamp. We always used to when I was working for the NBC doing ant "pigeon control" jobs. It may be a different matter with woodies but as far as I know lamping ferals in a building is fine as they are a major health hazzard!

That bag is quite impressive, well done and great that you have a lad that loves to shoot with you!

I have a farm with a pigeon problem but they do not want we to shoot inside the buildings  as they are new corregated clad buildings with lots of sky lights which they feel could get damaged. I got round this yesterday by taking my QB78 up there and spreading some grain on the ground between two of the buildings on a concrete hard standing with a nice breeze block wall behind it. I parked the motor in a place where I could sit in it to shoot about 20 yards away. The first 2 or 3 were a bit slow to get but then after I had set them up as "decoys" things got easier. I could not get anywhere near as godd a bag as you but ended up with about 2 dozen of these nasty, messy disease ridden pests and an added bonus of a magpie and a crow which decided to come down and attack one of the "decoys"!

Keep it up mate, they are filthy little things1 They need shooting and if you play your cards right they can offer some "testing" shots for a young shooter! :good::good::good:
