I gave up about 8 months ago and I cant tell you how much better I feel, I can breathe I sleep better. I'm also less stressed and combined with exercise my lung capacity has increased. Good luck and well done :good:

Your dead right there Camokid, I had a lovely venison roast on sunday with a few pints of ale, going outside for a walk with the dog and a smoke was well nice. It is just a habit, im going to find it hard when im out shooting, cos I usually do 1 lap on the quad or truck, park on the hill, roll a fag and admire the views. But the hardest bit for me is when I have a beer. Im at work now, and all I can think of is, the shops only round the corner, but ive promised my old dear I would give up so im doing it not only for her, but my own health too and my own pocket because I can save all my tobacco money and buy a .243 next year with it!

Think of all the enjoyment you can have with that new rifle! I often stop and admire the view, never felt the need to do it with a smoke in my mouth. It's just habit, doesn't make the view any better. :good:

I stopped two years ago after nearly 45 years smoking, when I was diagnosed with smoking related cancer - surgeon said stop and it may not return. I stopped and I am now nearly 20 months cancer free. Also, the money I saved pays for my cartridges, so a good result all round ! :good: I used a Nicorette inhaler for about two weeks and then stopped, still get the odd craving, but don't forget the "Twenty second rule" - just keep yourself busy for at least the 20 seconds it used to take you to get a fag out and light it and you are over the worst of the cravings.

Good luck jimbo, stick to it and you will be OK

I have smoked over 2 0 a day for the last 19 years, (dread to think what I have spent) I did give once in that time for 6 months, then like an idiot I started again.

I love smoking but I know it is not good for me so I have given up again, nearly 3 weeks this time and I am NOT going to start again.

I have tried patches before and they have not worked for me, this time I bought an inhaler from Boots and that was a great help.

Stick with and good luck, you know stopping is the only right thing to do :good::good::good:

40 yrs now - was walking down road smoking and thought - I don't like this so threw fag and packet away - thing is you have to want to stop not think I should stop - totally different meaning.

anyway good luck - hope you post this time next year and say still smoke free.

You can do it and iknow how hard it is. I gave up over 4 years ago and I've never looked back.

You've taken the most difficult steps already by making the decission and actually doing something about it.

Just beat those cravings which only last a few seconds. I've heard glucose tablets help although never tried them myself.

You will feel like a superior being so stick at it mate and I promise you it will get easier. A cig never helped anyone do something they couldn't already do.

Keep us posted.

I've smoked 20 a day for the last 10 years, now on day 9 smoke free (longest I've not smoked in that time after 3 or 4 attempts to quit). I'm using patches for the first time (Nicorette Invisi-patch 25mg)and chewing Wrigleys like they're going out of fashion!

What I've found is the cravings last a couple of minutes at most and the patches seem to really take the edge off things...I've also made a point of not avoiding a few beers at the weekend (I always made the excuse that stopping smoking would affect my enjoyment of a beer)

Hang in there - every day gets a little easier but you just need to keep pushing through :good:
