Chard
It'll never happen, the U-turn has started already. Deadline was 31st August/1st September, and nothing has happened. It won't now. This government and the last government are weak snivelling wretches. All politicians are weak, snivelling wretches. None of them have the balls to do what is needed, so it won't happen. Millions of pounds wasted on talking, that's all they're capable of - talk Edited September 5, 2011 by Chard
Frenchieboy
I see the Jewish lobby is now getting behind the residents of Dale Farm and saying that this is a form of ethnic cleansing. Telegraph.co.uk I don't know about "ETHHNIC CLEANSING" but if they just said "CLEANSING" I would have to agree!
Dr W
The eviction is to take place in the week commencing 19th September. What I did notice on the BBC website was this drivel from the UN (have they nothing better to do?) On Friday the UN's Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said the eviction would disproportionately affect family life and create hardship. It called on the government to suspend it "until culturally appropriate accommodation is identified and provided".
ack-ack
I see the Jewish lobby is now getting behind the residents of Dale Farm and saying that this is a form of ethnic cleansing. Telegraph.co.uk Thats rich!! In occupied eastern Europe during the war the Jews used to give up the gypsies to the krauts to temporarily save themselves. Hence the traveller term 'oven dodger' for the jews.
kdubya
the 19th eh? tele on let the games begin! Gimlet
From TV interviews with 'residents' (how you can be a traveller AND an resident I've no idea, but I suppose that's another matter) most of them seem to be Irish tinkers. So I was going to say why can't they be deported; but of course thats where the EU comes in. If we're expected to deface our county towns building housing estates for Poles and Lithuanians who already have homes in their own countries we can hardly object to a handful of Irish diddicoys camping out in a scrap yard. The EU will say they have to stay and so stay they will. And because of that more Transits and caravans will arrive on every ferry from Dublin. berties
Constant and Co, Balifs appointed to evict Dale Farm. what i heard was the case was given to Constant as they deal with this type of work, but they have to train up a team to deal with the special requirements of the traveling community, and it has not been easy to recruit and then train, this was written in as a Human rights issue, this is the courts words not mine, its going to be a hard case for them to remove all travellers stop them from reentering and secure the area,
Kes
It seems to me they contribute nothing, from income tax to council tax and take anything from benfits to chickens.- I wish I was wrong then there would be no problems associated with their prescence in an area? berties
The big question is how and why were they allowed to grow this site to 80 homes with over 400 residents, the bill for closure is going to cost us big time,we have had debates on here about travellers buying land local to members on here, the site should of been contained at a earlier stage and then closed and not let snow ball into the nightmare to what it has grown into👎
Bluebarrels
which ones are they and how would you replace them if you mean the current government? If you are one who believes we should go back to Brown and the clowns then that may explain the post I woudnt replace them the country is better off without all of them,do you trust any of them? jacksdad
Remember the story about a guy who built a luxury house inside his barn, hoping that by the time it was spotted the council would allow it to stay? They found it and he lost his appeals..wonder if its been demolished yet: I bet he's watching this story, if the gippos are allowed to stay he will be straight back to his solicitors and rightly so And how many more cases just like this will follow? KW http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/9234383.Travellers_wanted___6m_to_leave_Dale_Farm/ This will set the precedent for the future. From now on they will just hang on until the cheque books come out. Just because its cheaper to pay them off doesn't mean its a better way of doing business. It will encourage more illegal sites in the future. SHOOTEMUP
We Have two "Legal" families of these so called travellers about 120 yards from us and believe me they get away with lots of things. If people want to be known as travellers they should damn well travel, but that argument does not fit in with the politically correct thinking of the establishment, I well remember Tony Bliar in Ireland telling someone who I think was called Mary Mcalees that he would allow their problem travellers to come over to Britain as we had a very good relationship with the travelling community!!!!!! Needless to say they turned up and we now have this situation to put up with. Yes they should be evicted as they have broken planning laws and I hope it really inconvieniences them especially with winter coming.. These people are not Romany Gypsies, and the Gypsies I know will have nothing to do with them at all. We all have to live within the law and should these people get to stay we should all just build anything we want and stuff the planning rules. By the way is it going to be televised as the male travellers dont like being filmed at all ( I wonder why??) and if they are out the way the eviction should be a doddle and over in a couple of hours. It certainly won't be a doddle Essex police are expecting 2,000+ 'sympathisers' on site when the bailiffs turn up.
Gordon R
Contrast the treatment of this couple. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2035125/Couple-spent-year-building-250-000-home-ordered-pull--15ft-right.html A little more rigorous enforcement. fatcontroller
I would let them stay. I would also insist they all pay council tax. Tax and insure their vehicles and pay PAYE. If they all agree to this then stay, if not F... Off back to Ireland. Pay up like the rest of us have to.
ME
Well, the eviction starts Monday. Loads of playing fields and open areas locally have had large concrete blocks put round them to stop travellers moving on. Essex Police have set up a large compound facility at Barleylands Farm this week. There have been mounted Police and the dog section out around Barleylands practising all week. They have also been pulling over loads of vehicles in the area of the site and checking for tax, insurance etc. Looking forward to seeing the news footage on Monday.... Don't hold your breathe, it won't happen. There'll be a stand off during which time the Dids will try and get as many TV hours as possible and the media will be only to glad to wheel out endless footage from inside the camp and milk every last drop of news out of it. There'll be interviewing their chuffing lurchers by wednesday and jack **** will have happened.

They specialize in traveller evictions. This Police compound is massive with a small village worth of marquees - I guess as a temporary Police station. I am sure they wouldnt have done all that if it wasnt going to kick off.

It may kick off but I bet you that as soon as there's an injured Did it will be milked to death by them for publicity and the Gov.com will loose its bottle and negotiate terms. It will be a spectacular waste of money. I hope it all goes as intended but I just can't see it happening. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an armed stand off. Unless the gunman was shot dead there would be no way of proving who it was if they concealed their indentity. If they were caught they could give it the big one about defending their way of life and if they got Cherie Boothe or any of her sort as a brief they'd get away lightly. If they go in hard and do the job properly I will shout you a box of carts of your choice.
