lincs1963
Was told at the weekend that the clay ground at Blyton, near Gainsborough, are doing Lyalvale 24g steel for £120/1000. The club I shoot at are pushing these heavily at the moment. Not tried them myself but saw a couple of folks using them on Saturday and they were certainly smashing the clays! sandspider
Well, I called up and was told they were £40 a slab (pretty good round here). Went there a couple of weeks later and was told (by a different chap) that the price had gone up and they were now £48 a slab. I was already there, so just bought a couple of slabs. Ah well. And on my doorstep near enough If your gun is proofed for high performance steel (Fleur de Llys Symbol) you have no issues, if not you need check the cart specs some steel clay loads are fine through a normally proofed gun but its recommend to use 1/2 choke or less if gun is multi choke its not an issue but maybe with a fixed choke gun with tight chokes.... And on my doorstep near enough Worth Double checking but if they are fibre wads then they are lead not steel mate. Also I don't think eley firsts make a steel version but could be mistaken. Stick to lead anyway, much better than steel for anything other than skeet birds.
