liamp79
Hi guys, The old charger has given up the ghost and i desperately need one for tomorrow for the magnet. Had a look around and Halfords do a 12V car charger that will charge up to 1200cc engines. Its about £25. Does anyone use this one and is it any good, Or can anyone recommend another charger that i will be able to get my hands on today? Thanks Liam
deny essex
It realy depends on what the AH is on your battery , if you use a car charger on a lowish AH battery you need a charger with trickle charge facility anything much higher and you run the risk of cooking your battery. vampire
Do not buy a normal 12v car battery charger,i just melted my 7ah battery and was very lucky to have not been worse, the fumes are deadly poisonus and it could have exploded, use a trickle charger that puts out 500ma as on e-bay £5.

motty
I have a halfords automatic battery charger. It works for car batteries and has settings for smaller sealed batteries also. I highly recommend it.

Paladin
I bought a Ctek XS 7000 last year it will charge almost any 12v battery (lead acid,MF,AGM, and most gell batteries) they can charge with the battery on the vehicle, you don't have to remove and disrupt the alarm/radio. they can also be left on seasonal and colectors cars so that your battery is always 100% They have a reconditioning setting that can rejuvinate older tired batteries, this setting alone can refund the cost of purchase. I must have used most types of charger over the past 40 years, So far this is the best and last. (About £75) Paladin
steve_b_wales
Hi steve b wales gave me a site on ebay for a trickle charger no on ebay 120659196906 hope this helps These chargers are excellent value for money. I have three connected to my batteries, and they left on permanently, without overheating. They also use very little electricity. Steve. Cranfield
I have also had an old battery charger die recently. Having bought two replacements, I would recommend getting an "automatic" one that actually tells you when the battery is fully charged. The Halfords one looks good and you can get them on eBay at a reasonable price. My old charger had this facility, but the two I recently bought don't, so its overnight charging and hoping thats enough. I use the batteries almost every day and have four in circulation. The batteries seem to be holding various periods of charge, which is annoying.
