wildfowler.250
Just curious as to whether anyone else has had this problem or not? My gun will cycle 28 gram 7 1/2s and also the supreme game 30 gram 6's but not the pigeon specials in 30g 6. Any ideas why this is the case? I would have thought that the 7 1/2's would have a similar 'kick' to the pigeon carts so I can't understand why they will go through without any problems when the special pigeons sometimes don't even blow back the bolt  Anyone else had this problem with their auto and the pigeon specials?? Wasn't particluarly Impressed
TJ91
are they different length carts? its not always about the load and 'kick back', sometimes its the length that affects them (or so experience has showed me!) the browning gold my dad had would eject light loads that were 70mm but not heavy 67mm loads!? i dont know why though hopefully someone will be along to tell us soon
Markio
mine will cycle down to 24g carts if they are 70 or 67mm. True 65mm won't cycle at all.
wildfowler.250
http://www.lyalvaleexpress.com/UK/gamecarts/pigeonspecial.htm That's the shells. They are 2 1/2 inch. I am slightly confused as I thought the gun will cycle anything. I can't decide whether it is a duff batch of shells,(unlikely), or a problem with the gun. Would be great to know if anyone else has had a problem with these or if it is just my gun If so, should I be looking at sending it back?? I have had the occasional minor hickup with the speed loading not working as well,(adding first shell and it isnt popping up into chamber or going into the mag, just stuck in the 'bottom'). On the whole it is a great gun but if mine is slightly defective I would want it fixed as they aren't cheap thoughts would be great!
wildfowler.250
ps the supreme game are also the same length as are the 7 1/2s I believe
oscarsdad
My Maxus doesnt like anything which has poor quality casings or if there is a slight knick on the casing which can catch...smoother cartridges seems to perform a lot better so maybe the casings are a little rough? Thanks for the input. I don't think the cases are poor quality but I will have a look. I certainly would have thought that the cases on the lyalvale shells would be better than the cheapy 7 1/2 clay shells I have got. They are faultless too! super sharp shooter
My browning fusion would only cycle Kent velocity 28g so I don't have it anymore. When I had my escort it would cycle anything. It seems that the more they do to them ( technology ) the worse they work

I certainly find it better balanced than the xtrema2. Only problem is the ruddy front sight,(those glow beads) keeps sliding out. So far I've lost one and bent another Would be great to hear if anyone has tried pigeon specials through their maxus though

mpk
It's something to do with the forcing cones I think but I remember a friend having issues with the new clear pigeon as the back boring started to affect the pressure which may affect the problem your having as said can't be sure though as we didn't chat about it for long but may be worth looking into Edited September 9, 2011 by mpk

Wasn't particluarly Impressed you need to use 70mm and above as it states on the barrel and hand book, dont matter if 24.28.32gm,just needs to be 70mm.i tried to use up some pigeon specials i had when i first got my maxus, sometimes ok other times just jammed.now i only ever use 70mm carts.dont matter what weight so long as 70mm...2,000 plus through it without a prob...great gun

I have more fun with my Hatson Escort Magnum, cycles everything ... Drop it in the muck.... Who cares ....and it really can hit the clays ....I Just Love it. Greenhunter
Been using Lyalvale 30g 6's for a while now and never had any problems(except trying to find the ejected carts in the undergrowth 3yds away!) These are the short ones as its easy to forget how many its legal to load int the mag though they are not Special pigeon. Wouldn't have thought they were that different. I actually try to get the Lyalvales as they perform really well in mine! Makes me think it could be a bad batch Hope you sort it anyway As for the front sight, I put an Easyhit on mine which stops the original going anywhere! chris t
good advice from above My beretta urika 2 isn't very keen on 65mm carts. stick to 70mm and all is good Also when the bolt area on my beretta gets too dry, it will start to not cycle everytime. Needs a small amount of oil on it every so often. Chris
Markio
Thanks! I certainly find it better balanced than the xtrema2. Only problem is the ruddy front sight,(those glow beads) keeps sliding out. So far I've lost one and bent another Would be great to hear if anyone has tried pigeon specials through their maxus though As above, stick with 70mm as per the manual. You're putting carts through the gun that are stated as not compatible and talking about sending it back, that'll just be embarrassing. Although Eley Firsts for example (at 67mm) are fine through mine. 100% failure on 65mm carts, 100% success on 67mm, 70mm, 76mm & 89mm and at 24grm and upwards. And as for the front sight/bead, i got ****** off with those light pipes bending and failing out as you describe, i replaced it with screw in bead from eBay (if you're interested it's a 3mm thread).
