colin lad
have been using hornday v max red tips as i got a brick of 500 when i got my gun, now i am getting near then end of them i phoned up my local shop to ask what they have, he said v max, winchester, remington, cci, and federal, was thinking of trying some different rounds as with the v max i get ok groups but seem to get the odd flier every few shots. with the .22lr i tried 7 different types at £3.50 a box of 50 i could live with that but the hmr are £10+ per 50 i didnt want to buy too many different types so was wondering if you guys had any good or bad views on the mentioned rounds many thanks colin

al4x
cracking timing colin had you posted before the butchery night I'm sure we could have found you a selection Mine likes Hornadys most but remingtons are fine they are the only ones I've used that seem any different and appear to have a bit more punch to them. May be in the mind but the effects look like it.

Agreed, but mine still favoured the Hornady Reds, but they seem just as comfortable with the Blue!

Bewsher500
i have tried CCI, Federal and Hornady and found no difference between them at all. Federal produced a few more split cases but the bullet still went where pointed

the enigma
Mine seems to group a bit better with Federal V-Max. Also,I had tried a box Hornady V-Max but found that there were a lot of split cases compared to none with the Federal.I'm not sure if that had an effect on the accuracy. Frenchieboy
Mine shoots very well with Hornady Red Tips but I find that it shoots even tighter groups with Federals. It might be worth your while trying a box of Federals to see how your rifle gets on with them!

garyb
What are people paying regionally for Hornady 17grn V-Max lately? Just a quick straw poll. £14 here in RFD's, or £11 at gamefairs and a couple of smaller outlets.
