foxbuster - "you're avin' a larf". Mick Jagger had a mediocre voice in the sixties and early seventies, which didn't get any better. His "dancing" is like a drunk at a wedding - embarrassing.

What was the last decent tune they recorded after Brown Sugar? If there was one, it passed me by. They are a caricature of the band they were in the mid-sixties.

Music is a personal thing I like to think that I can enjoy most types of music and I would not put other people down for liking something that I do not.

Having said that I'm afraid I just do not get this rap stuff you seem to get a big fat black guy in baggy cloths holding on to his balls and talking while three or four what look like hookers wearing next to nothing are singing in the background

I'll stand by the Beatles to the last.

I love the Stones, got the landing gear wet many a time with them playing out at full volume in the background to mask the noise (of her saying no  )

Bowie? Could never tell whether he was a mush or a malt when I was a nipper. Still not too much the wiser now. Cant stand him which makes it hard to listen to his back catalogue without predjudice.

As said, music tastes are always a personal choice. My other half hates pretty much my entire collection, and vice versa. The unfortunate thing is that, like Pavman, she has no comprehension of British music history or influences and can't see that much of the music she claims to like was influenced by the bands that she claims to hate.

I too love The Rolling Stones although not perhaps to mask the screams! Bowie's ok but it needs to be the older stuff...I have really, really tried to get into The Beatles but can't get beyond a couple of tracks to be honest, I have to say that I think McCartney is an utter t-wat and Lennon wasn't any better, so that may cloud my judgement somewhat!

Very hard to like an artists music if you don't dig their personality I find. I can't stand the pompous nerk that is Chris Martin so Coldplay's off the listening list. I used to quite dig them when the got onto the scene.

Bowie all the way for me, he has done some rubbish but even his weakest stuff would stand out as classics against most current x factor style toss!

Never got the beatles (probably because I'm too young - (born 69!)Stones had some great tracks but never cared for the "personas" individual or collective.

I will be proving my middle aged credentials - but I can't see any current or recent acts having the durability of any of these three though!

What music do you prefer?

I have a very open mind about music but for listening tracks.. from the past i quite like Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Dia Straits, Gary Moore,Prodigy... heck I even like some tracks by Dolly Parton or whitney Houston basically if it sounds good i like it and am not framed in by Genre or artist, and just now anything from muse to cee Lo Green but to my ears the stones sound like a very poor collage thrash band venting off excess teenage anger whilst off there face, Tell me honestly can you understand a word Jagger sings??? Bowie sings words to one song and plays the tune to another, and the other mob..... well if thats good music I am glad not to be a fan!

I get a laugh when the radio DJ says and now this fantastic track blah blah no matter what one they play from certain bands and just because its from one of the big bands as mentiond its great...... to which i say cods wallop

I grew up with the Beatles, summer and s** and Beatles music. Long walks down in the water meadows with mouthwatering girls and a tape recorder the size of a skip. I always disliked the Stones, bit of a **** band (IMHO) and Jagger, ***** ****.

David Bowie's need to dress like a ****y made him a bit of a joke. Should've had his teeth fixed, so - as Ack Ack says - I didnt 'resonate with his character'.

I never could stand the Beatles, even back in the 60's. An over-rated pastime. <_<

I have always liked the Stones, in my experience Beatles fans didn't tend to be Stones fans and v.v.

Bowie did a couple of good songs otherwise he was another over-rated pastime.

How do you spell pastime? :hmm:

Also in my experience, music is one of the subjects about which people talk utter ****
