I've had/got a Nissan Navara for 4 years, great truck no issues. 6 speed box, probably the quickest trucks out there.

1st gear a little on the quick side for towing heavy (overloaded ) trailers.

Would recommend.

you could buy mine 53 plate animal

new engine at 65k new clutch new cambelt head rad air con rad steering brakes tyres etc..i could go on but it hurts to think about it its immaculate inside and out and now mechanicaly sound it also has full mitsubishi s.h but i really wish i had spent an extra few grand for a hilux! and just to add its turning circle is **** even when adjusted and its not much cop as a 4wd. sold a defender which i had before another BIG mistake as contrary to popular belief it didnt cost me a penny over four years !

oh yes i reckon if i got about ten grand for it i should break even!

I had one a 4Life model - I loved it but needed to have the lower cam pulley done as it was wobbling - it's quite a common fault on these. I joined the owners club and found a walkthrough of how to fix it tho. I sold it earlier this year due to a stupid insurance renewal cost. Supposedly the truck has subsequently cracked the head but that wasn't my fault!

A guy I work with had an 03 animal that fried it's ECU - that was an expensive fix and apparently not unusual.

Other than that it was just standard roll bar bushes and the like that needed changing. It was a great truck but lacked a little on storage room - but a set of roof bars soon sorted that.

If it helps I have a 2002 animal and in the last 4 years mate and I have had to replace nearly every nut and bolt, 3 gear boxes, 2 axels, brakes all around and rear leaf springs every year the lists go on and on. I have spent that much money on it I could not sell it if I wantded to. I would love a hilux but well out of my price range.

some live a hard life, I've had two now and would have another. Had a few issues with the first but it was a cheap one that was an ex SHB hire vehicle one so it had worked hard. The second was a one owner 5 year old one and in 20k I've only serviced it normally absolutely sound truck. They are very much buyer beware hard work will show on them but also if they do lots of motorway miles at 80-90 that can cause just as many problems. Simply they are so similar under the skin to the shogun that its not their manufacture its the life they lead. Use and abuse and things do go worong so best to buy with a decent history. At the moment they are half the price of the equivalent hilux so you can afford a fair bit to go wrong and anyone that thinks hilux's don't go wrong has been listening to the hype too much

Going for an l200 as have had shoguns/pajeros in the family for years and they have been absolutely exceptional, so i also cant understand why there seems to be problems with the l200, i heard maybe its due to them switching thier production to different countries. Hilux would be nice but i cant justify the money for what you get compared to other models.

Are the L200's 2.5 because i get the impression from the pajero forum that the 2.5 is a bit looked down on and i think its the same engine/box etc. :hmm:

Spent a fortune on a surf and got rid of it. Can get unlucky with any make.
