paulf
Have you got a proper gas torch? Being involved in maintenance both of the following are always in my van and get used weekly if not daily, both really well made. A rothenberger Superfire- fire 2 and map gas would be a good sudgestion. If you have one then for bigger tasks a Bullfinch auto torch on a 6kg propane bottle. If you want a really brilliant old tool then trawl ebay or the net for a Elwell axe, I have one date stamped 1918 think the head is about 14 lb. Trust me, no maul or other axe that I have ever used hold an edge and splits wood like the elwell.

Diceman
Wow lots of good suggestions here! So far on the list - the torque wrench (always borrowed before, but you're right I should have one) Nail Gun - got a couple of air-op ones but I reckon if they club together I can squeeze a nice paslode out of them. Gas torch - I do need to upgrade. The Jaws Of Life are a bit pricey at £1800 but I have decided I really really do need them, must apply for another credit card. And as for the fleshlight...I had to google it...It won't go on the list but it has given me an idea for another project
