Daystate

I have owned air rifles for many years now and have always wondered as to why the Daystate and Air wolf guns are so much in price when compared to other models, i know some have fancy computers on them e.t.c but even with out the electronics on the side they cost so much when compared with other company's such as Air Arms or even a small Sussex company Falcon. Is there any apparent reason for this and if you are a Daystate owner please say why you decided to buy that model and not another. Are they just as good as other models and are they worth the price that they are sold at?

Many thanks.

Overpriced and over technical: saying that I would love a Daystate Black Panther for best, £1400 without scope!

Best practical thing for me is the huge regulated shot count, the computer alters the hammer release time/strike weight to keep constant, 160 shots @ 11.5 ftlbs :good:

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

Have you come across these before?

The Theoben Rapid Mk II is capable of 420 shots per charge in .22 calibre at 12ft/lbs.:yes:

They are worth what someone is prepared to pay for them.

I had a FAC Huntsman back in the 90's, my personal response to the question is...........

.............No! :no::no::no:

All I can say is that the Airwolf is expensive but well worth it. People often say they are too expensive but the HW100 and the Huntsman are the same price. The stocks are of a much better quality than the any of the other guns on the market, I get at least 150 shots at 18ft/lbs. The down side is having to charge the battery. But nothing beats a descent springer

As someone has already written, they're worth what people will pay, and they appear to sell well.

Is a Ferrari good value compared to a AMG Mercedes ? Is a Rolex really better than a top end Seiko ? It's all personal preference.

Personally I wouldn't buy one, I have a Rapid Mk2 and a Phoenix Mk2 which together cost less than a top end Daystate. Both are completely mechanical and so far completely reliable.

Having said all that, the top end Daystates are absolutely lovely looking guns.

As a Daystate Airwolf owner i would have to say that they are worth every single penny. The problems that have been mentioned ie charging the battery (which i have dont 3 times in 12 months) and over complicated motherboard and digital trigger. Well for me its all good and its progress not to mention sexy as F*&k lol without doubt the best looking gun on the market. As per shots per fill at 11fp i have well over 500 shots. Lastly Daystate as a company as second to none, every question i have ever asked has been answered and they have gone to the next level to sort my every requested. save ur pennies and get one, its well worth it...... I would say yes but thats bought second hand not new. I wouldnt buy new but have bought secondhand.

I have a sub 12fpe .177 mk 4 and its better than my dads AA s410 .177 which is also great.

His AA S410 carbine with walnut stock cost him just over £400 new then he wanted it regged so then spent just over £200 having BTAS work on it so its value/ cost was around £700. My mk 4 was mint and had hardly had a tin of pellets through it and i gave £600 and its effectively regged and is more consistant than my dads and is definately quieter!

The week before christmas i took my mk4 out on some bunnys and had 6 bunnys for 7 shots out to

45 yards all head shot off sticks! :good:

So if your in the market i would say look for a good tidey second hand daystate ! :good:

Hi all

I have been looking for a new gun for the last 2 months and it came down to Air Arms and Daystate i could not get the airarms i wanted in left hand and was told it was available so to cut a long story short i rang AA, and if there customer service was any worse it would be non existance, i was told there is no call for left hand guns , we do make some and some ambi , but we stoped doing the one you want june and no we cant make one for you, and no we cant tell you who made the stocks for us, and no we cant sell you a action without a stock, so i found them a SHOWER OF ******.

on the other hand Daystates could not do enough for me , even found a supplier that had all the ones i was looking at in stock in left hand, so today i have ordered my new DAYSTATE, and have confidence in the product and the service i have and will get from them.

Purley personal but i would not deal with Air Arms if they gave me the gun.

Daystate gun a bit dearer that some airrifles, but are very well made, :good: As to their after sales service top class.Had a fault on the cocking bolt rang Angie at Daystate said send it back.Returned under 48hour fixed thats what i call good service.Same as when it goes in for service i ring her up to book it in.She then rings me back when my service slot is ready, returned in no time.

But dont just send them in without booking them in or it will be in the queue of gun waiting to get service. :good:

well Eccles and i agree i think

in this world it became apparent a long time agoto me that you get what you pay for . yes Daystate are a few pounds more tham most but that is what it is worth.

And yes some special Daystates the limited eddtion ones are a lot of money the last one is £2200 but just look at it ,,,,, and that is what it is for looking at not everyday use, it is a testiment to them that people will pay that just to put on the wall and watch it glow. but they sell out within days when they are released.

That speakes for itself.

Richard.

I suppose that you could also say that if you want something pretty to look at and money is no object then the Daystate is for you-but if you are on a limited budget and want value the AA is the way to go.When you are talking about guns that are only effective to ,say,45 yards how much better can the Daystate really be?-what can it do that the AA s410 cant-it cant kill the same rabbit twice or even kill it more dead.As for customer service all I can say is that I have never found them anything but professional-I guess that they dont need to work to sell one gun so why waste their time-the range of guns are available for all to see online. On top of this are the ambi guns or second hand if you really want one.

Hi Bruno

Which AA gun do you think is compatable to the daystate huntsman then as there is not a lot of cost direrance between the two makes , i think the AA S510 and that costs £670 compaired to £700 but then you may think the S410 that costs in the S/L version £592 and the clasic £620 ok there is £80 to 100 less there but i concider the 510 to be the comparable gun.

Then the Daystate make the MK4 in vairious options costing between £1000 and £1300 but these guns are in a diferent ball pk.

Comparing the two together i suspect the main differance in cost is the woodwork. and i dont think anyone can despute that Daystate woodwork is second to none.

saying all that and even though i have and will continue to slag AA off i wanted and still do want a EV2 in left hand, there are no s/hand ones about and i dont realy want one s/hand i wanted new.

Im not the only person that wanted a left hand one there is a call for them and i think about 1 in 10 are left handed.

at the end of the day it is a personal thing,it would also be interesting to see what would happen if AA made a limited gun for £2200 would it sell out in a couple of weeks like Daystate do lol i think not.

good point Durb

So that will increase by another ? what about £500 ish though if you are a member of a club or neer a gun shop you can fill as you need there, i will, gun has cost 700 and the scope i want is 300 and the local club charge £1 per fill and to be honest i have spent enough for the min, so i will fill up at the club.

club members said better to spend as much as i could afford on gun and scope and not buy he bottle till later , and that makes sence to me
