sako751sg Posted January 14, 2012 Report Share Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) The old fella hardly shoots now but Mac asked him yesterday if he was coming a wee walk and try for a pheasants and he was chuffed when Gramps said aye.He turned up at 11ish this morning with it fine crisp and reading minus 2 which was ideal for a walk.When we got there is was still zero but sunny and t-shirt weather.When we parked the Jeep up there was a pheas just going into cover,so we tooled up and only walked 50ish yards when he rose.I said to the old fella before to let Mac try and get a shot in first and if he missed then to try himself,and also if they rose a bit far oot for the .410 just to chap away.On rising the old fella was onto it but so had Mac and a cracking wee shot took the cock down and a great start for Mac.Thats the first pic posted.From then on it a regular rise of birds and Mac downing his first 4 birds that he shot at,with the old fella getting one.He then had a couple of easy misses but redeemed himself with one that was well oot and did a full somersault before cracking to the deck.I worked the camera and Rab and they ended up with 13 between them,8 to the old fella and 5 to Mac.Great to have a day oot with both the older and younger generation and the old man shot very well too.Loads of pics so will post the better ones and you will also get an idea of how some camera shots make the birds look unsporting and closer than they are. A wee pic of Rab when we got back home,he refused to soldier so had to be carried in.Once again the dug has earned his keep and way more. Your dad looks a bit like Pete Postlethwaite in the second to last pic Hope you dont mean dead,lol.Hes 67 noo and still as fit as i am. Looks like a cracking day out.
