Toon Pigeon
Has anyone got a "off the shelf" hide they use regularly and are they worth having? I have seen some on various websites (mainly wildlife watching hides)and have been toying with the idea of opening my wallet and getting one. I have seen some for about the £120 mark and looking at the price of Good Hide poles & and a quality net the cost difference is'nt that much. I already have Hides poles/cam net x 2 (sides and roof), ie: the normal hide rig, but just wondered if any had one, uses it, and thinks its worth it? or not. Toon Pigeon
What will you be using it for? Poles and net are much more versatile! Pigeon Decoying, just weighting up the pro's and con's.
Teal
Pigeon Decoying, just weighting up the pro's and con's. If you want to decoy pigeons with a shotgun get four decent hide poles (with sturdy kickplates) and a good net. UK Shootwarehouse make some excellent products, and you even get a discount for being a Pigeon Watch member (5-10%). Popup hides with a shotgun are a waste of time, and only out their to convince inexperienced shooters to part with their cash. Edit: I just checked and UKSW have this for £65: http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/shop/PIGEON+DECOYING+EQUIPMENT/Pigeon+Decoying+Accessories/%22NEW%22Professional+2Ply+Stealth+net+Plus+4+Twist+lock+Hide+Poles.html less 5% for being PW member Edited January 20, 2012 by Teal
Cosd
Pigeon Decoying, just weighting up the pro's and con's. I think they are too restricted for pigeon decoying. I'll stick by my recomendation, and that would definitely be net and poles.
artschool
I do agree that the hides are restrictive, but one other plus is that they go up and come down in about 30seconds and they are light. you can't say that about poles and netting. So much more versatile if your worried about getting wet, buy a fishing umbrella
Toon Pigeon
Seems more con's than pro's, guess I'll be sticking with my Poles & Nets. Like I said just seeing what the general view was on them. :look:
Outlander
For rifle shooting rabbits I think you can`t beat them , for shotty work/pigeons etc you defo need scrim & poles.
lee-kinsman
I'd go for hide nets and pole every time, can't beat versatility. However I have had this made for this summer and easily accessible spots when the harvest starts, you can put nets on or straw bail sides, unlike the pop up hides you still have un-obscured 360 vision and the roof is detachable if you need to take it off but you shouldn't need to since there is enough room between the cross member and roof. The idea being great for the shotgun and for rifle shooting. Lee

Dekers
That is some engineering, where is the bathroom and kitchen? Fair play, that really is a structure/caravan, I'd be interested to hear a little more about overall suitability/effectiveness/ease of use/etc after you have used it a bit!
