leeds chimp
I need some advice on this one as I have 3 Delkim TXI+ and RX reciever, 2 greys 2.75lb X Flites and 3 solar hangers union jacks that I have not used for a bit and cant decide to sell or not...plus other bits like unhooking mat etc but I am worried if I sell them that I will regret it if I return to carp fishing but its quite a few £££ that are just kept under the stairs. So have you sold something then thought..hmmmmm maybe should have kept that???
Dr_evil
The unhooking mats are great for working on cars
Wharf Rat
Keep what you can. I didn't go fishing for years, but I was glad I'd kept it all when the kids got interested.
39TDS
Sell them if they are worth summat. You can buy very cheap fishing gear that does exactly the same thing if you are desperate. Can anyone tell me how a "proper" unhooking mat is any better than a binbag with some foam in it? Answers from fish and their experiences particularly welcomed. Toombsy
I certainly wouldn't sell it all. Having worked in the angling industry for over a decade it's amazing how many blokes lay off it for ten years or more, then suddenly get the bug again and they absolutely love it again One thing I regret selling is my huge collection of The Cure stuff. Singles, limited edition 12 inch picture disks, posters, a gold disk, all sorts of stuff that took me years to source and collect. Sold it for stupid money to help get me through college. Still... never mind
Hornet 6
Can anyone tell me how a "proper" unhooking mat is any better than a binbag with some foam in it? Answers from fish and their experiences particularly welcomed. How is it better. 1/ Not as slippery, fish stay on proper mats. 2/ Easier to transport, most come in stink bag so no wet or slime/smell in car. 3/ Shows you have made a comitment to looking after your catch. (Fish are valuable and difficult to replace, anglers are not) I could go on, but I'll leave you with this..... You show up on my lake with a bin bag and a tatty old bit of foam and you will be on your way home very quickly. Neil. JR1960
Since when did fishing become a fashionable sport . I thought it was about outwitting a fish not looking good ..... Lol Nah, bailiffs nowadays double as fashion police. A lot of my gear is 60 years old, doubt I'd be welcome. I sold my militaria collection (mostly framed cap badges and numbered buttons) for silly money because I was in dire straights. That was 25 years ago and I still regret it. Matt, unless you really, really need the money leave your gear where it is.

Lol It is about outwitting the fish, my tackle is certainly not about fashion, but I do prefer it if the fish live to be caught again. Neil. The only reason I bought one is that one of the many rules on commercial fisheries insist on proper unhooking mats. It went against the grain a bit as I have only fished commercials twice, both times whilst camping with friends who's idea it was to go there. Still, it makes a great dog bed. pegasus bridge
i sold a lot of piking gear a couple of years ago - I regret doing that now. hang on to it if you can. i also regret selling my last discovery 300tdi, i sold it after spending lots on it every month just to keep it running, I think i was that ****** off with it i just got rid whilst i still could. but in hindsight, i had replaced most main bits on it, i should have kept it, this was made worse by the chap i sold i to telling me he has run it ever since with no much spent . I also didnt buy another 4x4 straight away and ended up wasting the money really.
