Dave-G
Assuming they are grey squirrels and you arn't using the fence as a pellet stop - yes.
artschool
make sure they aren't coloured red
Catweazle
I'd trap them, a Fenn Mk6 will do it. You can't count on a normal fence panel to stop a pellet. There are guidelines to setting traps so as to avoid killing non-target species.

Theskyfox
Yea, just do it in a professional manner. Try and avoid letting the neighbours see (People never like to see squirrels get downed) and use a silencer. Quickly, quietly and efficiently! Last thing you want is someone phoning the police because they see a guy hanging out a window with a gun in his hands... -Andrew Edited March 5, 2012 by Theskyfox

HDAV
50 Foot from center of highway. not that straight forward either.... http://www.basc.org.uk//en/codes-of-practice/code-of-good-shooting-practice.cfm Section 161 of the Highways Act 1980 (England & Wales) makes it an offence to discharge a firearm within 50 ft of the centre of a highway with vehicular rights without lawful authority or excuse, if as a result a user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered. bedwards1966
In short, yes you can shoot them. However, you must ensure that the pellet does not leave your land (which from what you've said it won't) and it's very sensible not to be seen doing it. Sadly, even though you are doing nothing wrong, if anyone sees you it might cause some problems when the police receive reports of a 'madman with a sniper rifle hanging out of a house window shooting things', the gun anti's/squirrel huggers or whatever can cause major problems if you aren't careful. Which is why I suggested a trap. IMHO shooting air rifles out your bedroom window just isn't worth the potential aggro.
richard1951
i think you are being silly if you live in a normal house you probably are 50 foot from road and any rick a shay will leave your property . So is it your responsibility to prove no pellet left your land or the polices to prove one did. Your choice but i think you are heading down the road to loosing your gun . THE LAW SAYS It is also against the law, in England and Wales, to fire an air rifle within 50 feet of the centre of a highway if this results in someone being injured, interrupted or endangered. These offences could be committed, for example, when someone is shooting in their garden close to a road and the pellets ricochet onto the highway. The same would apply if a person or property next door was hit. Edited March 5, 2012 by richard1951
evo
no luck with it today so one of the lads on here has offered to borrow me his trap,,so think i will go down that route,,also my neighbours are having the same problem and are totally in agreement that they should be rid of,,they are sick of them aswell,,as for people seeing me shoot i can actually sit in my home 10ft from any entrance and blast away,,the gun also has a silencer on it aswell, and there is defo no chance of a pellet straying from my property,,but i,ll try the traps first and see how i get on with that,,oh i even had 4 woodpigeon land in the garden today ha ha left them alone tho was quite funny watching them just walk about happily

garden gun
Traps can have unintended consequences. The only thing that our trap consistently catches is hedgehogs and they are s**s to get out. Once you do get a squizzer you still have to shoot it as release is illegal.
dougall
Richard ''Rick A Shay'' sounds like a lead singer in an Irish boy band........ricochet..... OP try peanuts, make sure pellet does not leave your boundary it is legally armed trespass if your pellet goes onto someone elses land.IF it is safe and you are not overlooked I would shoot it. atb
