gixer1
The Cowboys would rate highly, as would most of John Wayne's....Rio Bravo with Dean Martin too and the searchers, sons of katie elder...all good And a modern western I always liked was Open Range or Unforgiven...not sure if it would be classed as a western but "Glory" with Matthew broderick and Denzel Washington was also good One of my favorite film types... Fisherman Mike
Depends on the Era....sadly most of the Clint Films are a bit far fetched...as are the modern Westerns...most pistols of the time were innacurate and inneffective Waynes The Searchers is very good as was his last The Shootist Ulzanas Raid or Shenandoah would have to be my favorites and difficult to choose between them

Thunderbird
I noted that The Outlaw Josey Wales was described as a 'revisionist' western. I suppose a departure from the old mould of just fighting Injuns.
