rapid12
i try to leave them to grow if there not causing too much damage but one permission i have its just simple,...kill whatever size it is!!
pilgrim73
No never let up on them if I didnt the owners of my permissions would soon give the rights to someone else
Catweazle
Shoot 'em all, it makes a difference. Look at an area that's impossible to shoot and you'll see the damage there.
Sharpshooter.123
You can never give them a break, think of the damage they are doing while your letting them grow! Keep hitting them hard
Dekers
No landowner has ever asked me to control his bunnies....BUT leave the babies!
Dave-G
On my home patch if there's a bunch of bunnies I go for the biggest ones first as they are worth money to me. By the time the bigger ones are down the smaller ones have usually scarpered - so they become more valuable to me. My farmers know I harvest them and do not claim I will eradicate them. I rest several permissions to avoid over-shooting them and there are times when I can't get to some but can get to others. I'm generally quite lucky in that aspect. When I take a holiday at my families place in Cornwall it's pure pest control on nearby permissions so all get shot and left for other wildlife. ozzy518
I tried to arrange a ceasefire with the rabbits on the condition that for the duration of the cessation of hostilities they did not eat the farmers crops. In a blatant act of disregard of the Treaty the rabbits continued as before therefore War was declared and all rabbits are now shot on sight regardless of size. Pole Star
Who wants rabbits extinct on their shoot & who wants to control the numbers ??
roadkill
depends on what you are there to do , if its pest control then you should clear the land small or large . Or if the farmer is not fussed what you do then leave the small for next year why ruin your shooting . I have a place where the farmer isnt fussed about the rabbits more the foxes so i leave the little ones and only take them for the pot ( until mixi struck )
Dave-G
Where will all you dutifull shooters go when you have shot all the rabbits on your permissions? I initially cleared out my early permissions to the point that there was no point going back there: It took a while for the penny to drop but it did make me feel all nice and noble like. Squidgers, corvids, pigeons and anything else on the open licence all go the same way. Once they are at a level where the farmer is happy I get to work on the deer management. There is always something to be controlled.
