Threat to wildfowling from Northern Ireland Marine Bill

I have been asked to post this on behalf of our Northern Ireland Director, Tommy Mayne.

Dear all,

This is one of those opportunities where a few moments of our time can help make an impact as part of a wider campaign against a threat to shooting.

There is a web poll running on the Northern Ireland Marine Task Force website which gives visitors the option to vote in support of its work towards a Marine Bill. However, certain clauses in the draft Bill are badly worded and could be used to ban wildfowling within marine conservation zones. BASC and Countryside Alliance Ireland have been working closely on this topic and our concerns have been raised with politicians, wildfowling clubs and other organisations.

In light of the threats identified in the Bill please visit the website and vote NO. This will send an important message not only to the task force but to civil servants and political representatives in NI that a Marine Bill has to consider people's needs as well as those of wildlife.

On Sunday the poll was 97% in support, but now it is down to 25% thanks to peoples efforts thus far. Please click on the website below and vote NO and please spread the message. http://www.nimtf.org/

There is a briefing on the NI Marine Bill on the BASC website

Morning all

We are aware that some people are getting a message they already voted, even though it was their first time voting.

Dont worry, first time votes ARE BEING REGISTERED the message is being generated in error. However, the website wont allow second or more voting attempts from the same IP address.

Simon/David,

I've posted this on another thread about this bill.

NIMFT have a Facebook page with a link to the voting site.

BASC Fb page has an article, but no link. Countryside Alliance have nothing on their page.

May I suggest both BASC and CA get a link to the voting site onto their Facebook pages asap. There are over 5,000 potential 'NO' votes out there.
