Madeleine McCann - when do you draw a line under the case ?

I heard today that there are 37 officers working full-time on this case, presumably they have been for the five years since she disappeared.

Without wanting to seem uncaring, doesn't this seem a bit over the top ? Can there really be that much credible evidence coming in ?

I'm all in favour of continuing investigations, poor Madeleine is a victim that needs our support, but has the media interest put the police in a situation where they dare not scale down the investigation and reassign the officers to something with a better chance of success ?

What do you think ?

If it is true then it is wrong. However, I very much doubt 37 cops would be working on a foreign case. I assume we are talking Brit cops investigating. I know they mccanns still spend fortunes on private tecs (they don't have to follow the legit rules of conventional cops). I would not have a problem with the case being re-looked at as a cold case if something new comes to light but I know there are many forces up and down the country who would love a few extra cops to add to their list.

it has always made me furious.....

they left their kids and went to a bar , the bar was a fair distance from the apartment it wasn't even next door.....they did the same thing every evening at the same time.....

child neglect in my opinion, they caused what ever happened to that kid by leaving her and should be in prison

I noticed they have a new book out in the WHsmiths...just saying <_<

When I went abroad and young events co-ordinator was young if we went to dinner she came with us that was the Idea of the holiday to turn her into the well balanced and funny young woman that she is today. I was'nt a Doctor with loads of money we went to Spain by coach but the most valuable thing we took abroad was our daughter since I've been married (25 years ago yesterday)I've never been a holiday without my wife and daughter. I can sleep easy knowing anyone wanting to harm my familly had to deal with me first. Leave them alone in a foriegn country that is absolutelly INDEFENSIBLE. MR ANGRY GLASGOW :yp:

I believe that what they did was actually identical to the child - minding service offered by the hotel they were staying at ;) They checked on the children several times each evening whilst they were only a relatively short distance away.

I have to say that I would not have left my son at that age in such circumstances

I'm sure they feel overwhelming guilt...

I wouldn't mind if the same efforts was made for every child that went missing, but that's not the case so why are they so special? As has already been pointed out they left 3 children on there own in a foreign country every night so they could go for some food and a drink in peace with friends, disgusting  as silpig says their actions led directly to that poor little girls disappearance/death and yet they're not been held accountable for them actions. If it was a young couple off a council estate social services would have been all over them and they'd of been public hate figures.

If it was my daughter, id want a hundred officers! Should they stop looking? No! Do we really need to voice our parenting opinions on this? They messed up big time. They know this. Can you imagine what they go through every waking minute? I cant see them ever being the same again. I really do feel sorry for them, even if they have messed up. The way people keep calling them this and that is unreal. What they did, leaving the child alone, happens all over European holiday sites and its been going on forever. Its not for everyone, so thats that.

I've just been abroad and my kids who are aged 5/7 did not leave the sight of me and the Mrs for one minute except when they were in bed and we were in the apartment with them.

I don't think the public as a whole would want the McCanns prosecuted. I think they will never forgive themselves for what they allowed to happen and sending them to prison will ruin the lives of their other children.

If the Met decide their is a case to investigate then why not?

It's relative.

They have done over £10m on phone hacking and £7m on Abu what's his face, his wife, his kids etc.

I would rather see £17m spent trying to catch a paedo and teaching those ******* useless Portugese coppers the difference between their ***** and their elbows.

That Sir, sums it up spot on.

I abhor the self righteous brain dead who put their dislike of the parents before the duty we owe this poor little girl to do all we can, as a nation, to find her.
