ajb403
There's only one organisation I've seen on the news defending shooting when it's receiving bad press. I'll happily pay a few quid more a year for that.

BlaserF3
I think that everyone who is a member of whatever group you belong to, needs to read the policy and actually see what type of cover that you are eligible for. Not all policies give the same cover and not all have legal cover, even some of the bigger organisations do not have it in their policy. If the Police ever confiscate your guns that's when you may need legal cover. Edited June 7, 2012 by BlaserF3
al4x
Not all policies give the same cover and not all have legal cover, even some of the bigger organisations do not have it in their policy. very few have legal cover that will help if you get in legal bother I think only one purports to have it. Though I think it will only help if you have a decent case

bedwards1966
Personally I went with BASC. They aren't cheap (OK OK, they're very expensive), but I took the view that the insurance will be at least as good as any other, and they also provide advice when needed, and can be invaluable if ever you have issues with the police (seized guns/revoked certificates, any other problems). I'm not sure they do as much as they could and should, but they are also involved in preserving out sport, which is very important.
BlaserF3
I think that you should read http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/206092-wwt-lead-shot-plans/ this thread and see what BASC is doing to protect your sport
bobt
Basc are not only protecting your sport, they run excellent training too. £66 isnt that much if you work it out over a year,

bobt
if you just want insurance, it can be added to your house insurance for about £20.
BlaserF3
I have read it, what are the others doing? sweet fa? I have to agree with you, but my money would not be given to an organisation who helps to ban lead.
clayman
if you just want insurance, it can be added to your house insurance for about £20. Yes and No - depends on what type of insurance you are talking of. Household insurance will not normally cover, bundled or by extension, the Public Liability part of the insurance that BASC / CPSA / Country Cover / SACS / CA etc provide within their membership. HH insurance will usually cover the sporting goods up to a certain value away from home, and extensions for more expensive goods can usually be obtained. Dont confuse the equipment cover obtainable within HH policies with the Public Liability cover from the organisations - they are two totally different things. Similarly, while HH policies may contain Legal Cover or it may be available as an extension, that legal cover will not cover, say, loss of licence. Specialist legal cover in the organisations will encompass claim types specific to the sporting activities that are unlikely to be covered by HH legal policies.
