Mungler
Yep, because the current thinking is working so well isn't it? I've spent a lot of time in Spain, and I can tell you one thing for sure. Be it right or wrong, their Police are a lot more respected/feared than ours, very few would consider gobbing off at the Guardia like they do here. When the police act like thugs and the public are fearful and respectful if them.... Heil Hitler. Do you seriously aspire to that? No one could be that daft. Gordon's right; no one here or with a FAC is anti police, but blind allegiance to the police regardless and in the face of this? Not for me thanks
BlaserF3
leeds chimp,I would say that you were lucky that charges weren't pressed and I remember you saying that you used to work on the doors. BlaserF3
If Mrs Innocent had picked herself up and walked to her cell in a compliant manner, non of this would have had to happen. If you're in police custody and you do not comply after verbal requests, well shock horror the police will put you in a cell. the very fact computerised custody records exist today, backed up with cctv negates the references to the 60's and 70's-get over it. Just wait til he sues the force and wins a payout-there'll be some proper sad faces on here. fuddster The Police need to remember that they have a Duty of Care when people are in custody, not treat members of the public as they see fit. Catweazle
If Mrs Innocent had picked herself up The fact is that "Mrs Innocent" is, in fact, innocent until proven to be guilty of something. That's a foundation stone of our legal system, something hard fought for and not to be given away by fools.
markbivvy
I once saw an episode of Costa Del Cops where a British girl thought she would gob off at the police officer and point out the mistake he had made by arresting her friend. She got one hell of a smack around the face but she did heed the advice to go away and be quiet. sounds about right for spain ,beat the drunk people while the big crimms lead the life of Riley. Bazooka Joe
If Mrs Innocent had picked herself up and walked to her cell in a compliant manner, non of this would have had to happen. Mrs Innocent was slapped to the ground, & didn't get a chance to pick herself up, she was dragged to the cell.

Gordon R
Mark - made me smile. No matter what happens elsewhere, in the sixties, seventies, whether the woman was not the nicest person in the world matters not one iota. The man is a bullying thug. A wimp in my book. Just wait til he sues the force and wins a payout-there'll be some proper sad faces on here. That is true - I for one would feel sick. He deserves the sack, but could end up getting paid. It just shows what a mad world it is when a disgrace of a Policeman picks up money for knocking a woman about. He must be so very proud of himself. I am sure all his genuine colleagues - not the keyboard warriors on here - are so very proud of him too.

Jesus Christ you can tell your not in the job. It takes bloody ages to book a prisoner in these days with the risk assessments that need to be done. Any medical issue and they get a doctor to come and see them on the double. An old lady who had been cleaning the custody suite for years summed it up for me a few years ago. Her daughter was pregnant and had to wait a few days for a doctors appointment. These low life drug dealers, thieves and robbers come in demanding one so they can get some methadone or treatment for self inflicted injuries through drug use and they are there within minutes. There a few bullies in that occupation too. exactly the bit i did not add was he tried to punch me in the club and was restrained and escorted out. Lucky a couple were leaving as this happened and came forward as a witness. If the copper had put the boot in or a couple of punches then fair enough but he did not. All that happened was a ****** up lady fell to the floor which if she was sober would have put her hands out

Nonsense, you will then find 20+ burly cops both male and female that should be out on the beat but are in the canteen will throw down there take away and punch him silly until the doc arrives, then punch him some more when the doc has gone. Dirty Harry
A suggestion for you Harry..read this http://www.qebholliswhiteman.co.uk/articles-pdfs/deaths-in-police-custody.pdf and remember what it says. How many lives have you saved in custody Blaser? Probably not more than I have. The point I was making is that you clearly have no idea what's it like being a police officer and working in the custody environment. Over the last 5-10 years things have changed a lot and a big part of this is to try and reduce deaths and injures in custody. We go into a lot of detail about medication, medical conditions, injuries, mental health and drug issues. This all takes time, increases the amount of staff required and slows things down. You can trawl the Internet if you like and find more reports to support your anti police stance and to be honest I don't care. Most of us work hard and do a good job but some will never be happy.
