30-6
I know what you mean, if i'm decoying and a bird lands in a tree i always try to have it as it takes off, same on the floor. But sometimes it needs to be done, just pretend your using a rifle.
bi9johnny
I used to shoot pigeons at a flour mill and as well as being paid I used to get one 12g cartridge each bird from a game dealer, all were taken with an air rifle at roost and when I moved house as well as using some I still had 11500 cartridges left.....it was pure pest control and I must add I don't think I made a dent in the population
fendrover90
Me and a mate used to get called out to our local asda to shoot starlings inside the store in the roof that was not sporting just pest control
stubby
depends why you shot the ones on his land, with the one messing on his car, you broke the law, before you all jump up waving your arms, shooting roosting pigeons because they are messing in a public place, is fully legal, messing on a car its not, check out the rules
Rimfireboy
So long as you do it humanely that's what matters. You could say that setting traps isn't sporting. It's pest control, doesn't have to be sporting.
maxie
If pigeons were armed then it would be more sporting.
pigeon controller
When I'm asked to protect crops in the summer I often put decoys on the crop and shoot birds as they land in the sitty tree. Whe I use lofters in the winter I shoot again when they approach the tree. As far as I'm concerned it's crop protection.

"sport" is not what i am about for on these occasions - the killing must be justifiable non the less i once got asked to shoot a load of Rooks from a rookery that had existed way before the current house owner moved in (because they were noisy) no way was i doing that. You must only decide if its justifiable

stubby
Woodpigeon or feral? Blackpowder doesn't make a difference, any pest species crapping on a car cannot be legally shot, as the car can be moved, excessive guano build up however, can be a health and safety issue
