Negative Comments In Other sales

What is it with people making comments like "you can get it cheaper here......"

Or "I had one like that and it broke"

If I see something for sale and I want it if I know it can be bought cheaper elsewhere I'll send a link to the seller and offer a price.

I can't for the life of me figure out why anybody would want to sabotage the sellers chance of a sale by making comments.

The thing that drives me mad is when someone says " yes I'll have that " when your selling something .

Says the funds have been posted , and then blocks you when you PM them to ask why nothing's turned up .

( yes , you know who you are )

Please feel free to PM me if you want to know who I'm talking about , so you know not to deal with him .

Totally agree with you Elby!

Bang out of order in my books too.

Maybe it's a section where the mods could allow sellers to edit and delete comments on their thread.

Don't know how that sort of thing works though

Mods should clean up your sales posts if you ask them , i mod on another site an do it for people when asked Edited by bigman

Comments can be reported to the admin team by clicking "Report". If you think it's uncalled for, or is affecting the thread negatively.

I appreciate that, trouble is a lot of people would have seen the post before the mods get to it

Also cannot comprehend the mentality of the people that do the negative comments in the first place

I agree with your comments to a point,Elby, but it works both ways.I offered a series of DVD's for sale on here and was promptly told that they were available cheaper elsewhere so I simply dropped the price.I had no intention of ripping anyone off and was happy that somebody had prevented me from overcharging.

Just to play Devils advocate, surely if you choose to advertise on an open forum, then comments be they positive or negative are to be expected?

As a buyer I'd consider someone has done me a favour if they point out an item is overpriced or c arp.

Maybe if you don't want to risk these sort of comments you should stick to Eblag or Gumbush?

2 weeks back I bought a chainsaw from here.

Looked on the net to see if it was a good make or not and saw it cheaper.

Pointed it out to the seller by PM and he dropped the price.

PM is the way to go

I take it you're a grown man, Google the item and do your homework.

Hope that doesn't come off as an insult but think we are big enough to look after ourselves

Sorry to interrupt, but there's a better version of this thread on another internet forum...

:P

On a serious note though, if you think you can get it cheaper elsewhere then go ahead and don't bother posting. Two minutes on google will tell you all you need to know. Same goes for product reviews. It's up to the buyer to decide whether or not they're satisfied with the item for sale before they commit.

If something that's for sale is inferior or over priced, as a buyer I'd like to know. Then with all the information to hand it's my choice.

Not a big deal really.

Ok so you're selling a phone on here and the first post is from someone saying "I had one of them and it broke"

How you gonna feel?

None taken ;) . This isn't a site dedicated to selling, it's a forum. You aren't playing by the same rules on here as say Amazon. I would of course have a look elsewhere, but why should that stop someone else giving me a heads up?

Looking at the post that's brought this on, there's one guy saying his broke, and another saying his has lasted for two years, that doesn't seem unfair to me. All that may do is make someone do a little more homework.

Because TBH you should do the homework and give yourself a heads up.

Why exactly should people NOT offer an opinion on this OPEN forum which in all other aspects encourgaes comment and debate? If you don't like it, don't post stuff for sale on an open forum surely!

You're letting yourself down there squire.

Your argument boils down to if you find out something is cheaper elsewhere then you are to keep that to yourself?

Isn't that letting a buyer and fellow member if the forum down if the item for sale is factually over priced?

I would stick it on eBay and make sure I didnt mug a fellow shooter off with a phone that maybe iffy or prone to breaking.

No you wouldn't, just because their one broke don't mean your will, might have served you well for years

Also how do you know a "fellow shooter" aint the one buying it on Ebay?

Not really because I would let the seller know by PM
