OK guys got a rat in my shed ,had mice before and I got them with traps

I can shoot with air rifle but need some advice on what bait to use

Some one recommended dog food but doesnt seem to be working so what would you say to try.

I can leave door open and see the bait from my house window, plan is to get the rat on the bait and put a little hole in his head

I have a monster rat living under next door's decking, it has been eating all of the mice which keep being caught in standard traps....sat with the bedroom window open with the air rifle and some peanut butter out but got bored waiting for it.

Today I have set a body grab trap that keeper leant me and piled bricks around to make sure cat cannot get to it.

Hopefully will get the monster tonight.

Nutella works well. Cheap bread yeasty smelling liquidised if poss to stop them running of.

The best i have every used is a Cornish pasty 3 min in the microwave hot and smelly they can`t resist it.

Best night ever was on a pig farm using pastys. I shot 150 Rats in 6 hours.

what ever you decide to put down make sure you smear it on the floor so the rat can't just pick it up and run off, that way you'll have time to get a shot off whilst its lapping the bait up.

+1

Always use something you can smear on the floor, otherwise the rats will just run off with it into cover.

I found that putting half rotton fruit in a pair of old womens tights doubled over a few times always worked. Get a few apples, pears etc and incert in one leg of an old pair of tights and then double the thickness by using the empty leg. It should then look like a string of onions you by in the mesh nets in a supermarket. Nail both ends of the package down in any given area you intend to shoot the rats. Rats being nutorious for not staying put for you to get a shot off will go nuts for the half rotten fruit. But being so tightly bound in layers of old tights, old ratty will have to sit an gnaw his way through to get at the fruit. That gnawing time should be your perfect chance to bring to aim and shoot old ratty. Its a tried a tested method and iv shot loads doing it this way.

Do they have to be old womens tights or can you use tights from a younger woman? :hmm:

I'd be a bit worried about hanging around the old peoples home on wash day. :whistling:

No mate they can be new tights if you want to waste a few quid buying them. Its a good way of way of getting Mr at to sit still for a while

as he's chewing is way through the material to get at the fruit. Plenty of time for an shooter to take aim an pop it off.

Give it a try but, i suggest hanging around washing lines is would make you look very dodgy hahahaha.
